Chapter 72 - Chapter 72: Do You Think I'm Qualified Enough?

Tokiomi Tohsaka twirled his cane. Scorching flames burst forth from the ruby atop it, shooting straight at Lucas.

Whoosh—!!

Raging flames engulfed Lucas's body.

"Arghhhhhhh!!"

Lucas let out a miserable scream.

Sakura was instantly terrified, her face turning pale.

Tokiomi sneered disdainfully. "As expected, just a mediocrity? Such a mediocrity is not qualified to teach Rin."

Rin, however, showed no worry at all and shouted at Lucas, "Lucas-nii, stop joking around! You're scaring Sakura."

Lucas's scream stopped abruptly. Amidst the burning fire, he smiled at Rin and said, "Now, now! I have to play along, don't I?"

Tokiomi, Zouken, and Sakura were obviously stunned seeing Lucas grinning in the fire.

Then, Lucas opened his mouth and inhaled slightly. All the flames surrounding his body were sucked into his mouth.

"?!!"

"He actually ate the fire?!"

"Impossible?!"

Tokiomi, Zouken, and Sakura were all frightened by the scene before them.

Lucas could actually devour fire. This scene would startle even mages in the Fairy Tail world, where magic was prevalent.

Let alone in the Grail War world, where magi were physically quite fragile.

Rin wasn't surprised at all. She had seen this move before. The Solar Flames unleashed by that Heretic God named Verethragna were all eaten by Lucas-nii.

Back then, seeing Lucas engulfed in flames had scared her heart into her throat.

Later, seeing Lucas unharmed and even swallowing the flames, she was dumbfounded.

If he could devour even the Solar Flames of a Heretic God, her father's fire was nothing.

It wasn't that she was belittling her father; the gap was just too big.

"Mmm, the fire tastes not bad. But there's too little; not enough to eat."

".........."

Tokiomi was speechless. Devouring fire—is this guy even human?

"Well? Is this enough to qualify as Rin's teacher? If you think it's not enough, how about this?"

Whoosh—!

Flames ignited on Lucas's palm, forming a giant fireball one meter in diameter.

Lucas casually tossed the fireball at a rockery not far away.

Boom!!!

The rockery exploded into pieces.

"How about this? If you think this isn't enough."

Crackle, crackle!

Lucas condensed golden lightning in his palm and flicked it casually.

The golden lightning formed a spear of light, shooting toward the fountain nearby.

Boom!!!

The fountain was shattered by the lightning.

"If that's still not enough, then how about this."

Lucas's body began to grow rapidly, transforming into a giant over ten meters tall in the blink of an eye.

Lucas stomped his foot casually.

Rumble————!!

The ground beneath Lucas's feet shattered, and the entire Tohsaka estate seemed to experience an earthquake.

This scene terrified Tokiomi and Zouken.

"A giant?!"

Sakura's eyes widened in disbelief.

"So big! Lucas-nii is so cool!!"

Rin shouted excitedly. She had seen it on the chat group live stream, but watching a stream and seeing it in person were incomparable in terms of impact.

Lucas slowly shrank back to his normal size. He smiled at the still-shocked Tokiomi and said, "Well? Is this enough? Of course, if it's not enough, I can show other magic."

"Show it!! Show it!! Lucas-nii, show 'Merciless Sun'!!"

Rin shouted excitedly.

Hearing Rin's request, Lucas rolled his eyes. "Do you want to blow up the entire city?"

Hearing this, Rin remembered the power of that spell. That was magic that killed a god and wiped an island off the map. If he really showed it here, the whole city would vanish in smoke.

She stuck out her tongue playfully at Lucas.

Tokiomi also came back to his senses. His strong mental fortitude allowed him to stabilize his mind quickly.

"Enough... enough! That's enough! It is truly my daughter's honor for Mr. Lucas to accept her as a student."

Tokiomi was very smart. Initially, he looked down on Lucas, thinking it was whimsical for an ordinary-looking boy to want to take his daughter as a student.

His daughter was a genius with 70 Magic Circuits.

He himself was praised as a genius by the Association.

But both Rin and Sakura possessed magical aptitude even higher than his.

How could he agree to a boy who appeared out of nowhere becoming Rin's master?

But the magic Lucas displayed just now was unheard of. Whether it was devouring fire at the beginning, the subsequent fire and lightning, or that giant magic—almost any of them could serve as the secret inheritance of a mage family.

And the "Merciless Sun" Rin mentioned—if he guessed correctly, that should also be this person's magic.

The other party claimed it could destroy all of Fuyuki City. He was skeptical of that statement, but seeing Rin's reaction, it must be an even more powerful magic.

"In that case, let's do as Rin wishes."

"...I understand."

Tokiomi was conflicted hearing Lucas's words. After all, he had already agreed earlier. Going back on his word now really didn't fit his character.

But considering the magecraft Lucas just used... if he really passed those on to Rin...

Then the future of the Tohsaka family would be limitless. They would hold a pivotal position in the entire mage world.

Faced with such huge benefits, going back on his word was nothing.

Tokiomi looked at Zouken and said, "Head of Matou, I am truly sorry. As you have seen, an unexpected situation has arisen. Sakura cannot be adopted by the Matou family."

Zouken's face was ugly. "Tokiomi Tohsaka, you already agreed. Going back on your word now isn't good, is it? Besides, he is only Rin's teacher, not Sakura's teacher. You can still decide on Sakura's adoption, can't you?"

"..." Actually, in his view, adopting Sakura to the Matou family indeed had huge benefits. If Sakura inherited the Matou family, then two of the Three Founding Families would belong to the Tohsaka bloodline, which would be greatly beneficial for the future.

Seeing her father hesitate, the light in Sakura's eyes dimmed. It seemed her fate still couldn't be changed.

Just then, Lucas's voice rang out: "Sakura, are you willing to become my student?"
