Alator sighed. he really didn't want to get involved with any of this again. Right now, he only wished to get out of this place, and his primary goal was to awaken his soul essence. Only then could he have what it takes to survive and defend himself in this brutal world. His days in the wild had really taught him a lot of lessons, It has reshaped his life and made him understand the fate of the weak in the Wasteland.
One thing Alator desired now was power, and he was ready and willing to tread on this path, no matter how dangerous it might be. But he had been stuck in the wild for so long now, and if he truly wanted to get out of here, then he needed help. Looking into the distance ahead, it seemed like one had finally appeared. Alator sighed again, with an uncertain expression on his face.
"I think I should help her. Maybe she will know the way out of this place" Alator concluded, and took a step forward before breaking into a dash.
......
In the distance, the girl was currently fighting a Stone-Wing Beetle, two-star vicious demonic beast. While the girl was only an early Advanced-Tier mage, so confronting a two-star vicious beast was nothing short of a suicide mission. There was a deep claw mark on her right arm, and judging by her condition, it seemed she was barely holding on. However, the beast was also injured, its forehead was bleeding, and the blood was running into its eyes and irritating it even more.
The girl kept running as the beast chased after her, its large body scraping against the rocks. The beast hissed furiously and brought down one of its massive legs on her. Seeing the giant limb crashing down, she turned immediately and quickly brought her rapier forward in defense, forming a mana barrier in front of her.
"Bang!"
The giant leg of the beetle slammed into her mana barrier. It shattered instantly into fragments of energy, and the girl was sent flying like a rocket from the impact, with blood spilling out from her mouth. She crashed onto the ground but quickly rolled back to her feet in one fluid motion, and bolted forward without wasting a second. The beast roared and charged after her, not even giving her a moment to retreat.
Alator was hiding beside a rock, watching the fight unfold. He was waiting patiently for the right opportunity to strike. Confronting the beast head-on wasn't his style to begin with. After all, he was a Dormant. If a mage like her was having so much trouble dealing with the Stone-Wing Beetle, then what will be his fate if he jumps in rashly? He had witnessed the terrifying might of such beasts firsthand, and he definitely didn't want to get caught in that destructive energy.
The beast suddenly opened its mouth, mana rushed toward it and its jaws began to glow with a yellowish light. In the next second, it shot out a breath attack toward the girl. Seeing the incoming flash of deadly energy, she tapped her foot on a nearby rock and leaped high into the air, barely avoiding the attack. The vicious energy struck a huge boulder in the distance, shattering it into pieces.
She landed with a backflip, but the moment her feet touched the ground, several more breath attacks rained down on her. She gritted her teeth, then limped forward and deployed a strange footwork. Her legs were accompanied by the wind and Her feet glowed as they touched the ground. Her movement became swift, clean and agile. It was as if nothing could stop her at this moment.
"Bang!-bang!-bang!"
The breath attacks crashed down around her, one after another, and she moved through them like a shadow, dodging each and every single one of them.
Alator on the other hand was amazed by her skills. But he could clearly see that the girl had almost exhausted her mana, and the beast too was wearing itself out by continuously firing breath attacks.
Noticing that the girl was getting away, the beast let out a loud, angry screech. It suddenly flapped its rocky wings, lifting its massive body off the ground before flying after her.
"Now" Alator muttered and bolted after them. Within a few seconds, he was already running parallel to the beast. The creature didn't notice him. it was completely focused on the annoying human who had provoked it, and With the blood streaming into its eyes, its vision had become vague and blurry.
As for the girl, she was running at full speed, not even paying attention to any other thing around her.
Just as Alator was approaching a boulder in front, he tossed his staff into the air. He jumped and caught the staff, stomped his foot on the boulder and spun around. using the momentum. He thrust the staff towards to beast in the air. The weapon flew straight and pierced into the right eye of the beast, and sunk deep into its skull, connecting to its brain.
"Shank!"
Blood gushed out like a fountain as the beast screamed in anguish. The creature lost it balance in the air and came crashing down.
"Bang!"
The girl was shocked as a staff came from nowhere and struck the beast down. The creature writhed on the ground, letting out miserable, guttural screeches as it struggled in pain.
By now, Alator was already running back to the cave. He had done what he could for her, the rest was up to her now. After all, he could only support from the sidelines. Alator finally reached the cave and hid, but to his surprise, the girl was still standing there, looking around.
"What's wrong with her? Why isn't she hiding now?" Alator muttered with a dark look on his face. He didn't like it when people acted stupid, especially after he had worked his ass off to help.
The girl slowly began to move back with cautious steps. She didn't know who had attacked the beast or where the person was hiding, or why the person didn't showed himself openly. So, she was being careful. Moreover, she didn't know if the stranger was an enemy or an ally.
Just then, the beast suddenly rose to its feet, its bloody face twisted in rage and the remaining eye locked onto the figure in the distance.
"Screeeeeeeee!!!"
The beast let out a terrible, ear-piercing screech, releasing a suffocating stench into the air. The eyes turned bloody-red as it went into a berserk state. The creature stomped its feet on the ground and madly charged toward the girl.
"This is bad" she said as she began to sweat.
She was already having a hard time dealing with the beast when it was still in its right senses. At this point, she was certain that whoever attacked the beast earlier was no ally, but an enemy who just wanted to drive the beast into frenzy.
Without wasting a second, she turned and fled. This time, the beetle was moving like a rampaging bulldozer, stomping and crushing everything in its path. Coincidentally, the girl was running straight toward the cave where Alator was hiding.
"Fine, I will help one last time" Alator said as he saw the girl approaching.
The girl was already at her limit. She seemed to be suffering from mana exhaustion and struggling just to keep running. The beast opened its mouth again, this time, the mana rushing toward it was insane. A blinding white light churned around the creature and it fired the dangerous energy straight at the girl.
"Whoosh!"
Alator's eyes went wide. He was sure she wouldn't be able to react in time before the breath attack hit her. As the dangerous light tore through the air toward her, she panicked and tried to cast a spell, but it faltered under her trembling hands and dispersed into thin air. As she realized there was nothing else she could do at that moment, she closed her eyes and braced herself for what was about to come. She
had tried her best, but right now, there was nothing else she could do.
"Brother… I'm sorry" she muttered.
