Chapter 82 - Water Divination — Hyuga Arin’s Nen Attribute

"2,433 experience."

Hyuga Arin looked at the two Fire Release techniques that were currently his strongest. What he lacked right now was a finishing move—something that could decide the battle in one strike.

And these two techniques both qualified.

"Still, the Grand Flame Technique can be dropped."

That Technique was a signature technique of the Sarutobi clan and had never been officially recorded within Konoha.

By contrast, the Great Fireball Technique had originally belonged to the Uchiha clan. However, most of the Uchiha clan's techniques had long since been confiscated and made public.

In theory, quite a few Konoha ninjas knew this technique.

In terms of raw destructive power, the Great Fireball Technique was inferior to the Sarutobi clan's Grand Flame Technique, but it was much easier to control.

Especially when used with chakra enhanced by Nen.

"But speaking of which… what type is my Nen ability, anyway?" Hyuga Arin suddenly remembered.

He found an empty cup in the room and filled it with water from the bathroom faucet.

Staring at the cup filled to the brim, he froze.

"So where the hell am I supposed to find a leaf?!"

Hyuga Arin stared at the cup in frustration.

He first added experience to the Great Fireball Technique.

[Fire Release · Great Fireball Technique (Lv1)] Experience (0/500) Trait (None)

[Fire Release · Great Fireball Technique (Lv2)] Experience (0/1000) Trait (None)

[Fire Release · Great Fireball Technique (Lv3)] Experience (0/2000) Trait (None)

There were 900 experience points left—no longer enough to continue.

He dumped the remaining experience into Ignition Flame instead.

[Fire Release · Ignition Flame (Lv4)] Experience (0/800) Trait (None)

[Fire Release · Ignition Flame (Lv5)] Experience (0/1600) Trait (None)

After allocating the experience, he stepped outside the room and found a leaf outside the base, ignoring the surveillance gazes around him.

He felt that even without the Byakugan, relying solely on the five senses enhanced by Nen, he could already count as a sensory-type ninja.

With the leaf in hand, he returned to his room and placed it into the cup of water.

Water Divination—a method from the Hunter world used to determine one's Nen affinity.

Nen abilities were divided into six major categories:

Enhancement, Transmutation, Emission, Manipulation, Conjuration, and the rarest of all—Specialization.

Enhancement strengthened one's original abilities across the board, pushing defense or attack to the extreme.

Transmutation altered the shape and properties of Nen, granting immense flexibility.

Emission allowed one to release aura outward, forming attacks similar to ki blasts from Dragon Ball—though far from that level of power.

Manipulation involved injecting Nen into other objects and controlling them.

Conjuration shaped Nen into physical objects and then controlled them.

Specialization was the most unusual category—anything that didn't fit into the other five was thrown into this class.

What Hyuga Arin wanted most was Enhancement. It could comprehensively boost his offense and defense. As for Emission and Transmutation, chakra could already achieve similar effects, offering him little additional benefit.

As for Conjuration—why bother forming objects himself when he could just go find the Sage of Six Paths' ninja tools? Those were far stronger than anything conjured.

Specialization was too unpredictable. It could produce many strange effects, but Hyuga Arin's game-like system already granted him plenty of special abilities, so he wasn't particularly interested.

He placed both hands on the cup and slowly injected chakra.

There was no visible change in the water.

Hyuga Arin picked up the cup and took a sip.

At first, the water tasted sweet—then gradually turned bitter.

"Transmutation-type?"

Transmutation users were said to have fickle personalities and lie as easily as they breathed.

He felt that didn't describe him at all—he was such an honest person.

"Still, Transmutation isn't bad. Enhancement and Conjuration are adjacent to it—both can reach eighty percent efficiency."

When cultivating across types, power was reduced. Enhancement and Conjuration could reach eighty percent effectiveness, Emission sixty percent, Manipulation forty percent, and Specialization zero percent.

Due to the unique nature of Specialization, no other category could draw upon it at all—zero percent across the board.

Hyuga Arin wasn't particularly disappointed with this result. His primary combat methods still relied on ninTechnique.

Nen traits were merely an add-on, something that would influence how he developed abilities in the future.

Representative Transmutation users included Killua and Hisoka—the former had lightning-based Nen that enhanced speed and allowed him to control electricity, while the latter's Nen possessed elasticity and stickiness.

He poured the water from the cup down the drain.

Satisfied, Hyuga Arin lay down on the bed.

Sleep.

Hyuga Arin stayed in the room for several days. During that time, Murakami Hua was nowhere to be seen—no idea what he was busy with.

The base wasn't a place one could leave freely. Stepping out briefly was fine, but staying out too long would result in being barred from reentry—or even executed.

The Rain Hidden Village ninjas were, frankly speaking, a bit inhuman.

With nothing else to do, he could only train his body constantly inside the room. Although the base was built into a mountain, the air circulation was still decent.

No one moved into the neighboring room either.

After several days, Murakami Hua finally knocked on his door.

"Lord Hanzo wants to see you," Murakami Hua said, looking at Hyuga Arin, who was bare-chested.

Because of the intense training, sweat was still streaming down his body.

"Understood," Hyuga Arin replied, quickly getting dressed and following Murakami Hua to Hanzo's room.

Before entering, he activated the Byakugan. When he saw the person inside, Hyuga Arin's pupils shrank slightly—then quickly returned to normal.

The Hanzo before him was still wearing the breathing apparatus, but the chakra within his body was no longer at chūnin level—it far exceeded even jōnin.

It was comparable to Tsunade's.

One had to remember that Tsunade was from the Senju clan—naturally blessed with massive chakra reserves. In the entire ninja world, only a handful of people surpassed her in that regard.

And yet the person before him possessed chakra on par with hers. His strength was undoubtedly extraordinary.

This must be the real Hanzo.

"Muyu," Hanzo called out in a deep voice.

Hyuga Arin dropped to one knee respectfully. "Lord Hanzo."

Hanzo looked at him and continued, "From this moment on, you are promoted to chūnin of the Rain Hidden Village. You may form your own squad and are permitted to access part of the village's intelligence."

"Thank you, Lord Hanzo," Hyuga Arin replied, putting on a pleasantly surprised expression.

He was still a genin in Konoha—yet the Rain Hidden Village had promoted him first.

A ninja at the side stepped forward holding a flak jacket. "This is the chūnin vest. From now on, you are a Rain ninja chūnin."

Hyuga Arin took the vest.

Promoted to chūnin, given a vest—was this standard practice throughout the ninja world?

In Konoha, becoming a chūnin meant receiving a green vest.

In the Rain Hidden Village, it was a gray one.

He put it on directly. He was already wearing the Rain Hidden Village's signature black bodysuit underneath, making it easy to layer the vest on top.

If he added a breathing apparatus, that would truly complete the Rain Hidden Village three-piece set.

"Muyu," Hanzo spoke again once Hyuga Arin had finished putting on the vest. "What do you think of the Rain Hidden Village?"

The critical moment had arrived.
