Protagonist POV
So normally, the story begins with once upon a time, a girl lived and then ends with the ball celebrating her victory. nope, mine begins with a ball, my birthday ball.
My name is Sheila Marylyn Von-Horus and today is my nineteenth birthday. And it feels amazing. Dad got me this beautiful dress, and invited nearly the whole kingdom to celebrate me.
Now I've to run. I have a party to attend.
End of POV
Sheila walked towards the ball room, the maids were running around her, making sure her hair and dress were perfect as she walked towards the hall. They got to the huge door and stopped. the maids bowed and stepped back as the announcer was heard calling out Sheila's name.
The doors opened and the princess stepped out into the light. her golden dress gleaming as she did. Everyone in the hall looked up to admire her. her ball gown was strapless, and she wore long gloves over her arms. her long brown hair was held back with golden chains and bound with crystal pins. she was literally the star of the night.
As she descended the steps she locked eyes with an odd looking man in the crowd. his outfit screamed foreigner and he had hair reaching down to his back. he gripped his sword with one hand and brushed through his hair with the other. something in his light brown eyes said danger, but Sheila looked away and continued down the stairs. Nothing would ruin her night.
She reached the bottom of the stairs where her father was waiting for her. he stretched out out his hand and took hers in his.
"You look beautiful Dear" he said and led her to the center of the hall. he turned and announced,
"Now, I will give any of the gentlemen in this hall whom the celebrant will pick, the honor of the first dance with my daughter." he looked towards Sheila and nodded. Sheila in response stepped forward and looked into the crowd. the spotlight followed he gaze as he walked around the guests. She searched every face and profile, but no one seemed right. suddenly she locked eyes with the man from before. her gaze fixed on him for a minute too long and so did the spotlight.
Her father laughed heartily and then motioned for the young man to come forward.
The man did not resist and immediately joined them at the center of the hall. The older man placed his daughter's hand in the hand of the young man.
"Have fun" he said and motioned the musicians to start. the music started and the duo began dancing.
"Your pretty good" Sheila said, trying to start a conversation.
"Pretty good is not among my standards" the man replied
"And just what is the name of this man who is better than good?"
"You will get to know with time" he replied as the sound of running came from outside. A guard burst in and screamed at the top of his voice.
"We're under attack". Suddenly, the young man Sheila was dancing with grabbed her arm and pulled out his sword.
"Plunder!!!" He shouted and soldiers poured in from every entrance. Sheila tried to snatch his sword but he hit her head and knocked her unconscious.
Sheila POV
I don't know what happened but I woke up on the ground. the ballroom was chaos and there was blood everywhere. these invaders had already killed most of the men and the women were being dragged away. i looked up and saw father coming towards me. he held my head and was about to help me to my feet when a someone stabbed him. I screamed and was dragged away by my hair. Father fell to his knees as he stared at me.
"No, No, No, NO!!" I screamed as they pulled me out of the castle and threw me into a cart with my sisters. the cart door was shut and darkness engulfed us.
