The rain fell of the ship, with an eerie silence. A calm sense of relief washed over me yet also a panic. I was lost in the silence when Kirken's corpse began to glow and a red orb came out, and it entered into my body, empowering me once more. After all of this, the captain of the ship broke the silence. "We need to turn around this boat. The ship is damaged and needs to be repaired." He said with a blank expression.
He glanced over at Tenka, who was scared because they now knew about the skeletons, but the captain reassured him. "Put the skeletons away, I dont want to have our saviors imprisoned after all." He said with a slight smile. Tenka cut off the head of Kirken and resurrected his body with another dead bandit's skull. He then put away the new skeleton and went back into his room.
I stayed to put the head into a potato sack. I then helped the captain store the dead crewmembers' bodies to be buried at the Danx barony. After that, I went inside of my room. I felt an insatiable hunger, so when I got back to my room I ate all of the stored snacks that we packed. The aura must have been more than my body could handle, so I had to eat and recover my strength with the nutrients from the food. I ate and told Tenka to be on guard just in case.
I had only intended to nap, but I when I awoke, we were already back at Danx. I got dressed and went with the captain to report what had happened. "When does the next boat depart?" I asked curiously, anxious to continue my journey. "The next boat doesn't leave for another week." The captain replied with a solemn expression. After he explained what happened to his superior, Tenka and I were told to wait for further questioning.
After we answered the provided questions, leaving out the necromancy of course, we went to an inn to wait out the week. "Those birds were wonderful", Tenka said whilst probably imagining what it would be like to fly one. "I dont know about you, but I want to get one." I said with a mischievous smile. "That would be fun, but how could we possibl-" Tenka was cutoff by the door opening. One of the Baron's guards walked in, and he asked for me to meet the king. "Let Tenka come with me", I said firmly.
"The Baron wanted you, not some slave runt", the guard said snobbishly. Tenka shook his head, and I got the memo. It isn't worth fighting a guard just because he was being rude. I followed him and went to meet the Baron. "I heard you helped out my company." The Baron said with a tired stare. "Yes, my companion and I both fought the-" The Baron cut me off. "I dont care about what some slave did, but I DO care about what YOU did." He said with a greedy grin.
"After hearing about what you had done, I realized that you have the skills." He said with predatory eyes. "I see, thank you", I replied cautiously. "Anyways, I thought you should be rewarded for you efforts." He said whilst retrieving something from his coat. He pulled out a small bag, and I could hear the clinking of coins.
"Here's 5 platinum coins." He said with a plotting smile. "Thank you", I said. "Here's the deal." He said. "I need someone to clear out the bandit hideout for me. Since you killed the leader, I figured you would have no problem handling the rest of them." He said with a smug smile. I was about to speak when he added one more thing. "You can keep anything you can carry from their treasure after you do the job. I'll even give you 3 platinum coins for this task." I was thinking about it when he interjected. "Don't we have a deal?"
He said with an impatient expression. "Of course." I said with a practiced smile whilst trying to contain my happiness. I was planning to invade them anyways to get some giant cockatoo eggs, but I can now legally waltz right in there and take everything! I left while I could still hold in my happiness. I went back to the inn and told Tenka about what happened and when I did, we both had a devilish grin on our faces.
"We strike tonight." I said whilst calming down. "Okay, I'll prepare." Tenka said while packing up his gear. Night fell and I rode my horse whilst Tenka sat behind me. We turned off our torches when we got close. Tenka summoned his skeletons while I snuck around the cliffside into where the cockatoo nests were. That was our real goal after all.
I took the boat out of my inventory and then I signaled to Tenka by unleashing my aura on my weapon, and then we started the plan. Tenka and his new new skeleton broke the door down with sheer strength, and then he invaded the lair. He started using firework magic to blow up the wall and to draw attention to himself. When the bandits awoke and charged at Tenka, I leapt into action.
I went into the lair and I looked for the nests. I found them in a giant crude stable. I silently took the eggs and I silently loaded them onto the boat by the cliffside. While I was loading the beach ball sized eggs onto the boat, a bandit had spotted me and he charged at me. I used aura on my eyes to detect his movements and then I swung down on his head, killing him. I finished loading the eggs and I went inside the layer from the back entrance.
I put aura around my legs and eyes to be able to react to any sudden enemies. When I was looking for the safe, a gunshot rang out. I felt a sharp pain in my back. A guy's voice spoke up. "You stupid mercenary! How does it feel to face a weapon from another world!" I looked and I saw that the man had blonde hair and blue eyes.
This wasn't a possible hair or eye color on this planet, so I knew that they must be an otherworlder. I said nothing and walked towards him while unleashing aura on my weapon and arms. His confident facade quickly faded when really realized that the first bullet didn't even pierce my skin.
As I walked I slowly held my weapon up ready to strike. He started to panic and shot wildly. I used my shield to block any direct attacks. "W-wait, please! I-I'll leave, heck I'll pay you just let my live! I won't say anything!" The man begged and pleaded. I kept strutting along and without saying anything I bludgeoned him straight in the head. He let out a bloodcurdling scream and he died. I felt his warm blood splattered onto my clothes, and I took his gun. I checked his body for anything valuable, and I found money and a key. An orb flowed out from his body and entered into mine.
I felt a minimal increase in strength, which implies that the man wan weak. This surprised me, because all of the otherworlders like me have been on this planet for almost a decade now, but they seem to still be so weak. I took the money and the key, then I went to help out Tenka. By the time I got tonwhere Tenka was, there were bodies and bodies. 2 orbs flowed into Tenka's body from the bandit corpses. "Nice haul" I said smugly. "Yes it was." Tenka said with a grin.
"I got a key, its probably to their safe. I also got this," I said as I pulled out the gun. "What is that? Tenka questioned. "It is called a gun. It came from the otherworlders." I replied. I then tried to shoot it but I failed. A window appeared before my eyes and it said, "Only mages can use this item! You need mana to create bullets!" The window said. Tenka didn't show any expression, so I guess only I can see the window.
We the went back inside the lair to find the safe. I lit the torches and Tenka used his skeletons to help find the safe faster. After about 30 minutes, we found the safe under their doormat. "This is an odd place to put a safe." Tenka said astonished. "But it worked didn't it? It took us a half hour to find it even with all your skeletons helping us." I replied.
We opened the safe and inside was 300 gold, which is worth 3 platinum. We also found about 30 pineapple seeds, which was a nice surprise. Pineapple seeds are a royal crop, so only nobility can own and eat this crop. We then went back to the cliffside where I had put the boat out, and I told Tenka to sail to an obscure island close by, and to keep the eggs warm.
"Tomorrow night come back to the cliffside. I will claim the money and I will come back. We will sail straight to the next continent!" I said happily. I went back to the inn while Tenka sailed away.
