HELLO MY DEAR SEXY BASTARDS
ENJOY
--------------------------------------------------------
Jon didn't really know why people had given him that nickname.
It was true that he could fight on par with the most experienced men in the North; he had wielded a sword against men who had gone to Robert's Rebellion and had defeated them, but only in training.
In a real fight, things can change; all the training you have can be useless against a more experienced opponent who has killed, even though Jon sometimes liked to play dirty, using things around him to his advantage.
"So that makes Dad the best swordsman since he beat Ser Arthur Dayne," Bran said, sitting down on a barrel.
Jon did not believe that his father had murdered Ser Arthur Dayne.
Lord Stark had gone with seven men to that tower where his aunt Lyanna was held captive and had returned alone with his friend Howland Reed.
Five men died fighting only against three men, and it is believed that Howland Reed was badly injured after that fight.
"Do you really think our father defeated Ser Arthur Dayne?" Jon asked, turning his gaze to his brother.
"Of course I believe that our father defeated Ser Arthur, that's what the war stories say," Bran declared, frowning.
"Come on Bran, you're smarter than us, think a little, how many men did Father have to fight the Kingsguard?" Jon inquired.
"There were seven men: my father, Howland Reed, Theo Wull, William Dustin, Ethan Glover, Martyn Cassel, and Mark Ryswell," Bran replied, reciting the names as if he had studied that battle thousands of times.
"And how many men returned from Dorne?" he asked again.
"Only Father and his friend Howland, plus Aunt Lyanna's body," Bran replied, still not understanding where he was going.
"Right, now those seven men were the elite of the Kingsguard, Commander Ser Gerold nicknamed the White Bull, Oswell Whent and finally Ser Arthur Dayne nicknamed the Morning Sword, now, three experienced men against seven men tired from war and the scorching Dornish sun, how do you think things turned out, imagine Bran how you think the encounter was," said Jon, Bran was struggling to try to recreate the scene in his mind.
Father must have arrived and demanded his sister be released from that tower where Prince Rhaegar abused her, and when the Kingsguard refused, that's when the fight began.
As you say, they were the three strongest in the Seven Kingdoms, and the men accompanying Father must have fought together to finish them off as quickly as possible.
Perhaps the first man to fall was one of Father's men, then maybe a second of Father's men was brought down by Ser Gerold, and with effort, perhaps Father or someone else killed a Kingsguard.
I want to believe that the first to fall was Ser Oswell Whent, since he was the youngest of the three," Bran said as he stared into space, imagining the fight.
"Good, and now only Ser Gerold and Ser Arthur Dayne remain, continue," Jon said.
"Well, Ser Gerold and Ser Arthur must have formed a line to cover their flanks.
Now it's only two men against five.
Ser Arthur was the most dangerous enemy, so Father and two other men must have tried to finish him off.
Ser Gerold must have fallen, but not before taking out one of the two opponents.
Then that man must have joined the fight against Ser Arthur.
He ended up killing the other two and injuring Howland Reed so that Father could then kill him," Bran concluded, believing he was right.
"Think, Bran, how do they say swamp men fight?" Jon asked his brother.
"With poisoned arrows," Bran replied, opening his eyes.
"Okay, now you have a man like Ser Arthur, who just fought four men by himself, he couldn't have been tired, after all he was an experienced man, and that only leaves us with two possibilities," Jon explained.
"Howland must have made a cut that poisoned him, and this made Ser Arthur begin to tire, and finally Father was able to kill him, but what about the other option?" his brother asked.
"I'll leave that to your imagination, Bran," Jon said, before starting to walk away.
"They attacked him from behind!" his brother Bran shouted from behind him, slowly turning to see his brother running towards him.
"They attacked him from behind.
It must have been Howland Reed.
when Howland saw that Father was losing, he attacked Ser Arthur, ending his life," his brother explained, reaching the same conclusion as Jon.
"Correct Bran, congratulations," Jon said, ruffling his brother's hair.
"But why would they do that? It's dishonorable to attack a man from behind," Bran questioned.
"Bran we were at war, Father wanted to see our aunt and didn't have time to be honorable, although we don't yruely know what happend and what we're saying may have never happened and it's just our imagination trying to discredit the Northmen who killed the Kingsguard," Jon said.
His brother seemed to accept that lie and walked away.
Jon knew that his father had not murdered Arthur Dayne.
Jon Snow didn't know how to prove it, but a part of him knew it for sure, just as he knew that he had been born during the war. Perhaps being born during the war had something to do with his skill with the sword.
