A few hours pass in relative peace before a soft, polite knock echoes against my bedroom door.
Elin pushes the heavy double doors open and steps inside, offering a flawless curtsy. "Your Highness, it is about time we leave for the Imperial Palace."
I look up from the bed, blinking in surprise. "Hm? Why? We still have plenty of time before the Grand Convergence banquet actually begins."
"You are right, Your Highness," Elin nods respectfully, stepping fully into the room. "The High Sovereigns, the Elven Scions, and Their Majesties will all be getting dressed here at the Obsidian Manor and leaving together later this evening."
She pauses, a small, excited smile touching her lips. "But you cannot do the same. You must be present at the royal kitchens for the final test before the grand event begins. Because of this, I have already taken the liberty of transferring your banquet attire to your chambers at the palace."
My eyes instantly light up.
