Chapter 17 - When You Search Everywhere and Find It Without Trying

Serena wasn't stupid.

It was just that everyone viewed the world through their own logic and values.

Some people were optimistic, believing the world was fundamentally good.

Others were pessimistic, placing little faith in human nature.

Serena wasn't stubborn about her own views either—

after all, as a streamer, her whole thing was "listening to advice."

The internet always said that if you listened to your viewers,

you'd eventually become a god-tier streamer.

"ε=(′ο`*))) Sigh… I kind of want to say,

'Bro, aren't you thinking a bit too extremely?'"

Getting worried about doxxing on the very first day of streaming

was honestly a lot to process.

Was this really that hardcore of a game?

"But still… a single grain of sand from the times can become a mountain on a regular person."

"No matter how unlikely it is, I don't want even the smallest risk landing on my head."

"Being cautious never hurts."

"...…"

On the other side of the screen, Cynthia rubbed her temples with a faint headache.

To be honest, she didn't want to judge human nature from such an extreme or ugly angle either.

Most people in this world—most Trainers—were gentle, reasonable, and kind.

But every now and then, there were extremists.

Anti-social personalities.

People who just wanted to watch the world burn.

And then there were Pokémon poaching syndicates—

people who would do anything for profit.

Those were things you couldn't fully prevent.

Things you couldn't completely control.

As the Sinnoh Champion, Cynthia had faced criminal organizations and poachers head-on more times than she could count.

She had seen both sides of humanity.

She was always willing to assume the best of strangers—

but she was equally willing to imagine the worst.

Standing at both ends of the moral scale.

That, too, was humanity.

"What I mean is simply this," Cynthia typed,

"in the most extreme scenario, it's not impossible for something ugly to happen."

"I'm not saying someone will target your Dragon Dance Gible."

From a certain perspective, she herself was one of the people who had "noticed" that Gible.

But unlike others, she had no intention of stealing it, doxxing Serena, or using underhanded tactics.

She only wanted a normal conversation—

to discuss training methods for Gible and Garchomp.

As for other people…

there was no guarantee they would be the same.

"Man—what can I say? Mamba out."

Serena shrugged helplessly.

"Next time, I won't use Dragon Dance Gible as a stream gimmick."

"I'll just stop looking for shortcuts and properly think about team structures and content."

[Drawing Water With a Basket]: That sounds like a good plan.

With Cynthia's eye for talent, it was obvious that Serena's tactical understanding was already impressive.

Combined with a starter Gible that knew Dragon Dance—something even she didn't have—

this Trainer was bound to make waves in the professional scene someday.

It was only a matter of time.

"..."

At this point, Cynthia felt it would be inappropriate to suddenly ask how Serena's Gible learned Dragon Dance.

—Searching everywhere only to find it effortlessly.

She had spent so long chasing this answer, nearly ready to give up,

only to stumble upon a genuine lead at the last moment.

She didn't want to rush things and scare this unknown rookie away.

In theory, she could have used PokéTV's backend to dig into Serena's real identity.

She could have doxxed her.

But Cynthia wasn't that kind of person. She would never do something so low.

What worried her was whether someone else might.

"Life really is hard sometimes," Serena sighed.

She'd honestly thought that with the whole isekai bonus package,

she'd be playing on easy mode.

Turns out… she'd been naive.

Trying to win too fast never worked.

[System Notification: Drawing Water With a Basket has sent Super Rocket ×1.]

"?"

A single question mark slowly appeared in Serena's mind.

Life was suddenly… smooth again?

"Bro—what's this about?"

"It's nothing," Cynthia replied.

"I took up some of your time, and I watched your stream."

"Your skill is real. You're not just relying on Dragon Dance."

"You built a proper strategy around Gible's strengths. That's why you were able to sweep opponents again and again."

"So this little gift is just a token of appreciation."

A little…?

Serena's gaze sharpened.

Was she seriously lucky enough to meet a whale on her very first stream?

That almost felt unreal.

But for Cynthia, it truly was just a small gift.

If she wasn't worried about scaring Serena off, she could've given more—

it wouldn't have mattered financially.

But there was no need.

Like that meme about feeding a cat.

Pour a little—just enough to eat.

If you overfill the bowl until it spills everywhere,

the cat panics instead.

Why are you doing this?

This is suspicious.

When things get too strange, there's always something wrong.
