Whiscash are large, blue, fish-like Pokémon with yellow underbellies and long, flowing whiskers. A trademark "W" pattern marks their forehead. While their eyesight is poor, they use their whiskers to detect vibrations in the water and track prey with startling precision.
Capable of triggering massive earthquakes within a five-kilometer radius, Whiscash also possess the mysterious ability to predict real tectonic shifts. They are fiercely territorial; any intruder is met with a violent thrashing of the ground to drive them away.
Feng Che looked out over the lake. Floating at the center was a gargantuan Whiscash, nearly five times the size of a standard one. Dozens of Wingull were perched on its back, picking parasites from its thick hide. These creatures are known to grow as long as they live, and this one looked like it had seen centuries pass.
"A genuine Elite-level partner," Feng Che noted, leaping from the back of his Gyarados and using his Psychic power to levitate over the water. "This will be a proper workout for my main team."
Giant Whiscash: Mmm... this sun is warm. I was just about to drift off.Giant Whiscash: If it weren't for those annoying drones buzzing over my head earlier, I'd be asleep at the bottom of the lake by now.Giant Whiscash: Being a guardian is a pain. I'm bored of the scenery... sleep is my only hobby.
The behemoth flipped over with a massive splash. The Wingull took flight briefly before landing on its soft white belly.
Giant Whiscash: So warm... so comfortable... nobody wake me up... It began to sink slowly.
However, the smaller Whiscash in the school had spotted Feng Che. They surrounded him with hostile glares, opening their mouths to unleash a barrage of Mud Bomb attacks. Feng Che vanished in a violet shimmer, appearing on the shore. The mud splashed into the pristine lake, turning the water murky and brown.
"Go, Venusaur!"
Feng Che released his ace. As Venusaur hit the ground, several massive pillars of water erupted from the lake, drenching the Grass-type. Venusaur didn't flinch; the water simply rolled off its leaves, making its foliage look even more vibrant and green.
"Venusaur, Leech Seed!"
The giant Whiscash sensed the commotion and surged out of the water, bringing a tidal wave with it. Venusaur's flower erupted with green seeds that attached to the attackers, sprouting thorny vines that drained their stamina. Because Whiscash is Water/Ground, it took quadruple damage from Venusaur's grass energy.
"Finish it! Solar Beam!"
A pillar of blinding light pierced through the crashing waves, creating a rainbow in the morning mist.
Giant Whiscash: I JUST got to sleep! Why is there more noise?!
The Alpha Whiscash finally surfaced in a rage. It exhaled a water column a hundred meters wide, carving a deep trench into the shoreline. Venusaur responded by extending its vines and shaping them into razor-sharp Leaf Blades, slicing the water column clean in half.
Enraged, Whiscash dived and began to rotate rapidly, triggering a massive Earthquake. The ground beneath Venusaur's feet shattered into a web of fissures. Simultaneously, a hundred-meter-tall mega-tsunami rose behind it.
Venusaur's flower pulsed with a golden light. A second, even more powerful Solar Beam slammed into the heart of the lake.
BOOM!
The lake erupted like a depth charge had gone off. The shockwave knocked the Giant Whiscash unconscious. As the rain of lake water fell back down, hundreds of fainted Water-type Pokémon floated to the surface, bellies up.
The Key and the Pyramid
"Master Feng Che! This must be the key to the ruins," Alivia called out, retrieving a glowing blue crystal from the Alpha Whiscash's side. She handed it to Feng Che.
She then tossed a specialized Rocket Ball, capturing the Alpha. Feng Che followed suit, using his Psychic power to mass-capture the remaining fainted leaders to clear the way for the base construction.
As Feng Che took the blue crystal, it flared with a brilliant emerald light. He quickly recalled his Pokémon. Before he could speak, the world shifted.
He stood within a pyramid of ancient lapis lazuli. The walls pulsed with a faint green luminescence, the only light in the cold, silent depths. The air was thick with the scent of stagnant time. Using their night-vision goggles, the trio observed the magnificent murals lining the corridors.
The murals depicted the history of Regigigas, the King of Giants.
According to the pictograms, Regigigas was born at the dawn of creation. After wandering the chaos for eons, it found the universe crafted by Arceus. In its loneliness, it gathered the world's hardest metals, unmelting ice, and primordial rock, crafting the first three Giants—Registeel, Regice, and Regirock—in its own image. Later, it harnessed violent lightning and the ancient soil of dragon graves to create Regieleki and Regidrago.
"The cuneiform text says the ancient people sealed the five Giants here," Alivia translated, her voice hushed. "To open the main gates and reach the King, one must first possess a Relicanth to wake the guardians from their slumber."
"But it also says these Giants were sealed by the King himself, and their resentment has grown over the centuries. Once freed, they will attack with everything they have."
