Chapter 305 - Chapter 295: Erebus — The Interex Civilization Is Revealed to Be a Powerful Civilization

The territory they control spreads across the entire Milky Way; it is a rather vast region equipped with advanced technology.

Its central world lies nearly forty weeks of navigation from the edge of the Imperium's sphere of influence.

The Interex civilization survived the long Age of Night even after losing contact with other civilizations.

They raised their civilization to an entirely new level and formed an alliance with the Xenos Kinebrach race.

The heads of the Kinebrach people are shaped like those of apes; they have wrinkled bluish-black skin and fine orange-red hair covering their angular skulls.

Their bodies are taller and more powerful than those of the Astartes.

They were the first Xenos race the ancestors of the Interex encountered.

The two races clashed the moment they met.

In the end, however, humanity was victorious.

The Kinebrach swore to become subjects of humanity and abandoned the right to possess weapons.

Of course, that was only as long as humanity was not willing to tolerate giving them such power on the battlefield.

Otherwise, they would not have taken up arms.

The Interex civilization does not harbor deep hatred toward aliens and advocates peaceful coexistence and the friendly resolution of problems between the two sides.

Against hostile aliens, they will find a way to defeat them and afterward deprive them of the ability to travel between the stars.

They are banished to designated planets, and warning signs are set up around them so that others will not approach.

Among them were the gigantic spider-type monsters that the Murder Planet operation aimed to eradicate.

Having been attacked many times by the gigantic spider-type monsters and realizing that negotiation was impossible, they recovered the gigantic spider-type monsters they had defeated.

Send it to the Murder Planet and set up warning signs so that harm does not come to you.

The Imperium of Man took a cold and merciless attitude toward xenomorphs.

That which is Xenos is filth, and filth must be destroyed.

From the first day of the Great Crusade, the Imperium of Man has observed this law.

His Majesty the Emperor has repeatedly declared with unquestionable authority that humanity is the only intelligent life-form worthy of survival in the Milky Way.

The Ninth Legion and the Sixteenth Legion had originally been dispatched to the Murder Planet in order to eliminate the gigantic spider-type monsters,

but at this time they were all invited to Xenobia, the farthest edge of the Interex civilization.

Thus the Murder Planet operation suddenly came to an end.

This greatly displeased Abaddon and his subordinates.

The two sides held a large-scale summit here and discussed various issues between the Imperium of Man and the Interex civilization.

Datch arrived at the capital of Xenobia, a prosperous city located along the coast.

Sunlight pierces the surface of the sea and projects glittering patterns of light onto the shallow seabed.

A sea breeze blows into the city, carrying a faint sweet fragrance mixed with the scent of salt and some kind of plant.

Beautiful clusters of buildings are connected by broad, winding cobblestone promenades.

From the balconies of most of the buildings hang climbing plants bearing small white flowers.

Behind them stretches a vast continent covered in dense tropical rainforest — a sea of trees composed of countless shades of green that continues to the horizon.

Lush plants spread throughout the city; deep-green moss grows along the edges of the sidewalks.

This is not a fortress city. On the ground and along the rails, there are almost no traces of defensive systems.

The people here lead affluent lives; peaceful and calm expressions float on everyone's faces.

If they were constantly driven by work or troubled by the trivial matters of life, such expressions would never appear.

The people Datch had met in many hives all had vacant eyes.

In their eyes there was no longing for the future — only the compromise of satisfying the most basic desire to survive.

When the winding Dach cobblestone road turned into the city's main street, he happened to see local residents conducting a grand procession to welcome the Imperial embassy.

The main road is far wider than the sidewalks, and the buildings on both sides are far taller than the buildings on the hillsides.

The first floors of the buildings are entirely open arcades; flowering climbing plants and blossoms twine around the arcade columns.

Each column is decorated with flowers of various colors: deep red, bright yellow, pale purple, snow-white, light blue, and more.

Numerous Aria musicians dressed in luxurious and solemn attire marched in formation while singing powerful hymns welcoming their reunited compatriots.

In the crowd, Datch found famous NPCs such as Horus and Erebus.

All the NPCs appearing in historical fragments come from the original timeline — specifically the dark timeline set in the Warhammer games.

They follow their predetermined fates and advance step by step toward betrayal, corruption, and destruction.

They have never met Datch and have never been influenced by the nameless ones.

Datch's mission is to stop Erebus's plan.

'By exposing the identity of this dark apostle, we can destroy this fragment.'

The parade ended at a building known as the Hall of Instruments.

It was a silver-white building, most of which was embedded in the slope of a hill overlooking the bay.

To the Interex, the Hall of Instruments held extremely important military significance.

Inside it are stored creations that the Interex themselves judged "too dangerous to place under strict guard."

The Anathame, forged by the Kinebrach and capable of influencing the fate of the entire galaxy, is currently stored inside.

Led by Interex envoys, Horus and the rest of the Imperial party entered the Hall of Instruments.

In front of the display cases in the Hall of Instruments, the Warmaster's figure looked especially tall, like a giant from ancient mythology.

Behind him stood the Mournival composed of the Four Kings: Abaddon, Aximand, Torgaddon, and Loken.

Next appeared Sindermann, who later became one of the founders of the judicial system.

At present he is merely a preacher with a strong curiosity toward Xenos civilizations.

Sindermann wore a simple dark-gray academic robe, looked around with curiosity, and occasionally directed questions at the staff beside him.

Erebus brought up the rear of the line, leading several Word Bearers. A smile floated on his face, yet madness dwelled in the depths of his eyes.

Ordinary citizens were stopped by the guards and instructed to remain outside. The main hall where the instruments were displayed was cleared for the Imperial embassy that had come from afar.

Datch took out molding powder, disguised himself as an Interex employee, and secretly slipped in through a side door of the instrument warehouse.

The side door used as an employee passage is far narrower than the main entrance and is hidden in the shadow of ivy hanging from the side of the main entrance.

Several guards stood at the door. The moment Datch entered, they noticed him.

Just as the guards were about to examine Datch's credentials, he used the Reality Stone to manipulate their perception and deceived them.

The Hall of Instruments is extremely spacious and decorated in a museum style.

The space is skillfully divided by light; the alternating changes of light and shadow guide the visitor's gaze and footsteps.

The main exhibition area was wrapped in soft light.

The display cases are spaced sufficiently far apart so that visitors can spend a long time slowly in front of each exhibit without worrying about being pushed or shoved by people coming from behind.

The display cases varied in size, but all contained a wide variety of weapons.

Illuminated by the pale blue light of the protective force fields surrounding the cases were ancient swords, spears, halberds, and modern energy-powered firearms.

When Datch entered, he could hear the conversation of the Mournival led by Abaddon.

"Are they trying to give us a good impression?" Aximand said to the others.

He stood in the middle of the exhibition hall with his arms crossed in front of his chest. On the arm armor of his power armor, a crescent-moon emblem was clearly visible.

"Just a weapons museum?"

Aximand turned and looked at the other members of the Mournival.

"It's as if they're mocking us."

"No one can mock me," Abaddon muttered.

He is the leader of the Mournival, First Captain of the Luna Wolves, the most loyal adjutant of Horus, and the one who inherited the title of Warmaster again after Horus's rebellion.

Led by Interex envoys, Horus and his party stepped into the exhibition hall wrapped in blue light.

The weapons displayed here are far stranger than the other exhibits.

Boxes, strange ornaments, rings, and other items are all engraved with ancient mysterious runes and contain a unique magic that captivates the heart.

Among the Kinebrach, there are only a very few things that resemble weapons.

Several strangely shaped, slender daggers and sword blades.

Sindermann looked at the weapons with curiosity and asked the Interex envoy beside him,

"Blades are just blades. Why are they labeled 'too dangerous and require strict surveillance'?"

"They are specially ordered weapons," the Interex envoy explained. "They were manufactured by Kinebrach metallurgists using intelligent metal, and their forging techniques have long since been completely lost."

"These are called Anathames. When the user selects a target for this type of weapon, the weapon becomes the target's nemesis and comes to house 'lethal force and irreconcilable hostility.'"

Hearing this, Datch immediately approached.

His gaze passed through the transparent floor and stopped on the display case below that contained Anathame.

This is like a special attack against the Emperor — "the first assassination" — and the selected person is supposed to become the target of the special attack.

In the original timeline, during the Xenobia summit, Erebus plotted an assault on the Hall of Instruments and stole the Anathame forged by the Kinebrach.

Afterwards, Horus was invited to the Davin system, but there he unexpectedly learned that the former planetary governor he himself had appointed, Eugan Temba, had betrayed him.

Feeling insulted, Horus immediately issued the order to suppress the rebellion.

During the suppression of the rebellion, he was wounded by the Anathame of his nemesis, Eugan Temba. The wound would not heal, and he fell into critical condition.

The apothecaries of the Luna Wolves tried every means, but nothing worked; the wound continued to worsen.

In the end, they had no choice but to take the unconscious Warmaster to a temple on the planet Davin.

Datch gazed at the daggers inside the display cases and felt that all of these little things had been prepared for him.

They came in the middle of the night and stole everything.

They are all the Fourth Disaster.

After the tour, the governor of Xenobia invited everyone to his residence for a dinner party.

Because there was no important plot there, Datch did not go. Instead, he found a place to wait for the opportunity to return to the Hall of Instruments.

As the night grew late, Erebus, who should have been attending the banquet, suddenly appeared at the entrance of the Hall of Instruments together with those who conveyed his words.

The moment a guard tried to ask a question, he was immediately killed.

Alarms rang out at once.

The Word Bearers were cunning. They deliberately hid their emblems and insignia and made the Interex forces believe that the Sixteenth Legion was behind it.

The guards of the Hall of Instruments were no match for them at all and were massacred in the blink of an eye by Erebus and his subordinates.

Even the guardian could not match the Astartes.

He resisted for a while but was killed by Erebus.

"Take everything from here," Erebus ordered his group, instructing them to plunder everything.

When Datch arrived, the entire Hall of Instruments was enveloped in flames.

A group of armed Interex soldiers followed Datch inside.

Witnessing the devastation of the Hall of Instruments, he immediately reported to his superior and demanded that the Imperial embassy be detained and an explanation sought.

While everyone was rushing about in confusion, Datch skipped over to the guardian Ashlot.

He passed the Interex soldiers who were offering silent prayers and knelt in front of Ashlot's corpse.

Ashlot, who had been the guardian of the Hall of Instruments, had now been torn to pieces.

After a moment of hesitation, Datch took "Golden Hammer" from his in-game inventory.

He struck one of the guardians scattered here and there; a "ting" sound rang out.

Golden light filled the surroundings; the corpse that had been shattered into pieces instantly returned to its original form and came back to life.

Everyone was dumbfounded by this sight and wore expressions of disbelief.

He survived! He really survived!

Ashlot stood up from the ground, but a vacant expression floated on his face.

He could not understand what had happened. All he remembered was that warriors from the Imperium of Man had surged in.

He had tried to stop them, but they had shot him.

He had forgotten what happened after that.

Datch ignored the astonished crowd and continued to save people using "Golden Hammer" and the Time Stone.

Bodies that had been shattered into pieces with a single blow instantly regenerated.

However, for some he used the Time Stone to directly rewind time and return them to the state before they were injured.

Everyone was left speechless by this sight, their mouths hanging open.

After rescuing everyone, Datch plundered all the remaining collections and metals in the instrument storage room.

Then he flew off to expose Erebus's conspiracy and thereby clear the mission.

In this way, this mission was cleared, and he could proceed to the next mission.

Meanwhile Horus and his subordinates were under siege at the governor's residence.

"Your Excellency, Commander," the governor said sternly, surrounded by numerous guards. "I must ask Your Excellency and all members of your retinue to remain in Xenobia for the time being."

"Hand over all weapons immediately. Otherwise, do not blame us for taking an insolent attitude."

"Is this the way to treat guests?" Horus asked.

"You are no longer guests, but despicable thieves who steal weapons," the governor stated.

"This is a baseless accusation. We have not stolen any weapons," Horus tried to defend himself.

"You revealed your purpose too early," the governor said. "While you were attending the banquet, you sent subordinates to assault the Hall of Instruments, steal the weapons forged by the Kinebrach, and murder many people."

"Clearly you are not simply seizing the weapons for research purposes. If that were the case, you would only need to ask questions; there would be no need to kill or commit robbery. You intend to use those weapons for some evil purpose."

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Horus tried to retort.

However, the Interex soldiers no longer intended to listen to his explanations and began their attack.

Arrows rained down from every direction and easily pierced even the thickest power armor.

Abaddon, Loken, and the others took up their bolt pistols and returned fire.

It was clear that a bloody disaster was about to break out between the two sides.

At that moment, a voice rang out.

"Everyone, please wait a moment. Listen to what I have to say."

Turning toward the sound, everyone looked back and saw a man dressed in classical detective attire standing on the rooftop.

The other person held a hat and a cane; behind him, a bright moon shone.

"Who are you?" Horus asked.

"I am the one who reveals the truth." Datch raised his hand and threw the immobilized Erebus from a high place onto the ground.

"This person is the mastermind behind everything. There is no meaning in you fighting."
