Chapter 2 - Uncle Gideon’s House

So I cleaned my hands. And took her home. Uncle Gideon's house smells so lonely, He didn't hug me. He didn't tell me it would be okay. He just said, "Survival is a skill." That night, I slept without crying. That's when I knew I was becoming dangerous, I fear the new Ari Lock but am more courageous in her, I knew Dead Men Don't Testify and if I wanted justice for my parents then I have to draw my path right cause I swear to investigate the all by myself so I choose law I became a detective of my own word because dead men don't lie—but they also don't testify. The city teaches you that quickly, But I believe that justice isn't blind. It's a force, during my many encounter with people on similar lane, I meet Ben Carter a die hard detective whom I found myself being impressed by his wisdom and sometimes I wish I have him by my side, The first time I saw Ari Lock name on a case file, it was circled in red. Undefeated. Brilliant. Untouchable. I didn't know she will be the end of me, I tried every means possibly to get in contact with her but as a very busy woman she is, it couldn't be made possible but I know I will meet her one of this days. Why I Chose Law Guns end lives. Law ends legacies. I want revenge. And I also wanted erasure. So I studied harder than anyone. Slept less. Smiled rarely. I didn't lose—not because I was lucky, but because I was prepared to bleed on paper instead of streets. By twenty-five I owned Voice Law Firm with the help of my uncle By that same twenty-five judges knew my footsteps. Winning Is a Language Winning speaks. It says: I see the system, and I still beat it. Clients came to me when they were guilty and when they were innocent. I didn't ask which. I only had to crack open n win a case that will favour me. Uncle Gideon never asked questions either. We understood each other perfectly. The Woman Who Smiled in Court She smiled when she destroyed witnesses. Not cruelly—beautifully. Like she already knew the ending. I should have hated her. Instead, I memorized the way she tucked her hair behind her ear when she won and I know I Ben Carter is already drown to her, I don't know if is cause of her beauty, intelligent, smart or the way the handles things and failure isn't in her dictionary, since I get the opportunity to be in same place as her I couldn't hold back but went to her and asked her out for a coffee chat gladly she accepted. I noticed the way Ben Carter looks at me he didn't look at me like a case study He looked at me like a woman standing between light and shadow but I don't care, Coffee?" he asked after while I said yes. I went home that with different questions at heart, first why must my path be this way, how do I end up loving who I became if my parents were alive they would have wants me to be a cute n lovely princess but life is unpredictable if I don't choose this path, then I mustn't be a LOCK, I will make sure no one close to me faces unjust. That was my second promise and I must keep it
