"Do you know I can't even work in this country anymore?" Laura cried harder.
"My medical license was revoked," Maxwell continued slowly. "My name was dragged through every news station." His eyes darkened completely.
"And suddenly I became a rapist." Laura shook her head violently. "Please—"
"When you know very well I never raped you!" This time, Maxwell finally exploded. His voice thundered through the apartment.
"It was you who threw yourself at me!" Laura flinched in fear.
"It was you who drugged my drink," he yelled. "And I didn't even know you were seventeen!" His chest rose heavily with years of buried rage.
"I said everything," he continued bitterly. "I told the truth over and over again." But nobody listened.
Because Laura came from one of the richest families in the country. And Maxwell? He had simply been a talented young doctor with no power to fight back.
