The old man's eyes widened immediately. "Yes! Yes, she did." Max stepped forward instantly. "Tell me everything."
The man nodded quickly. "She came in looking confused," he explained. "Honestly… she didn't seem to remember much."
Max's heart tightened painfully. The shop owner continued, "She brought a ring to sell. Said she needed money urgently for her son's treatment."
Samuel and Max exchanged a look immediately. Nathan. The old man shook his head sadly. "Poor woman. She almost fainted while standing here." Max's fists clenched tightly.
"She looked exhausted," the man added. "And emotional." Then suddenly, the shop owner remembered something else.
"Oh..and there was a locket." Max froze instantly.
"A locket?" The man nodded and quickly reached beneath the counter for his phone.
"She didn't even know there was a picture hidden inside it," he explained while searching through his gallery. "The locket." Then he turned the phone around.
