Mia read the folder alone, twice, before she called anyone into the room.
"She's planning this," Mia said when Malvin finally arrived, voice tight with something that hovered between fury and betrayal.
"Acacia. She's been meeting with the old syndicate factions, the ones who never forgave me for taking territory from them. She's positioning herself to take me out before we even finish this war."
Malvin took the folder from her hands, flipping through it slowly, expression unreadable. "Where did this come from?"
"It doesn't matter where it came from," Mia snapped. "Look at it. Look at what it says."
"Mia." Malvin's voice carried a note of caution she didn't want to hear. "Anonymous documents that conveniently confirm your worst fear about the person closest to you should make you more suspicious, not less."
