"Did you just say life debt?" I asked her out of surprise because the idea of a life debt was an ancient custom that only a handful of households still used.
This ideal was abandoned many generations ago, because it seemed to bind people into servitude that they ended up regretting.
Most people regretted this because a lot of the people who the life debts were owed to scammed their way into it.
"Yes , I said that I now owe you a life debt. While the custom was generally abandoned my familyWow, the custom was generally abandoned by most houses my family is still practices, it and takes it very seriously.
In my household , we only accept the possibility of owing a life debt to those that we think are worthy of such a large amount of loyalty." She said to me in a serious tone as she place her right hand over her heart and put her left hand pointed out at me.
"What are you doing.." I said to her in response to seeing her in a such an odd pose.
"I Sophitia, do pledge my weapons and loyalty to your my Lady Destiny. As long as you live I vow to not hurt you and bring harm to those that dare tarnish your name. This is swear."
"What does that exactly mean for me?" I asked in a somewhat upset tone because I had some odd feeling that this would put a huge kink in my plan of trying to climb my way to the top alone.
"This means that I am going to be going with you on all of your missions through the portals against the demons since we both share the same profession.
My strength will be your strength, my victories will be your victories, and my rewards will be your rewards. This mean.\nS wherever you go I go.
I knew it. This foot put a giant kink in my plan. Did I have to accept this life debt, or could I tell her that I deny her the right to this life debt.
She smiled at what she said while I crossed my arms expressing that I was upset.
Then I decided that I should just accept this , because if I was forced to work with somebody; I would rather it be a woman that owes me something. This would mean that , because of the fact that she owes me her life she will be less likely to steal anything from me or lie her way to claiming her fame.
"Alright then I accept your life dead, but I will warn you that I will be pushing you as hard as I push myself when it comes to getting things done while we are in the portals." I said to her in a very serious tone.
I noticed that she started to cry as soon as I said that I had accepted her life debt.
"Sorry I too apologize for the tears, but these are tears of joy. I honestly thought that you were going to deny me the right to have my life debt paid due to how old the custom is." She said to me as she wiped away her tears and showed a large grin across her face, making it very clear to me that she was very happy that I had accepted her life debt.
"Alright let's get going. We need to go visit the G.S.F. headquarters so that we can select the portal that we are going to go into today." I said to her as I started to walk back towards the main street and head towards the section of town that was meant for those of our profession.
I noticed that she followed me and we both showed our identifications so that they would let us into that section of the city.
In this section of the city , all of the buildings were made out of metal and was colored white with a dark blue trimming at the top and base of each of them.
The roads however were made of a set of black titles that heated up underneath my feet as I stepped on them.

This entrance to the main G.S.F. building in the city was constantly full of traffic. People of different skin colors and races are both rushing and slowly walking in and out as if they were there on a mission.
I made my way into the building , and I was greeted by a large crowd of people that were surrounding the people at the front desk.
It did not take long before people that were in a full suit of black body armor step from behind the desk and got in between the raging customers and the receptionist that were behind the desk.
"You will all behave yourselves and act how we expect someone of your profession to act when preparing to conduct the vital business and security against the Darvian invaders that are on the other side of the portals." The guard that was clearly , the one in charge said as he hit a few of the raging people with the butt of his rifle.
After the clear leader of these guards said that and showed the level of force that he would put behind his words I noticed that everyone else started to stand in lines and become more civilized.
It took only a pound thirty minutes for the lions , tooth and out, and for both of us to finally make it to the front of the line.
"Yes how may I help you?" A tall and slim , nice aged woman asked in a serous tone as if she was in a rush and was ready to be finished for the day, even though the day had just barely begun.
"We would like to take on the demons inside of a portal today." I told her as I came up to the desk.
"I will need to see your badges so that I may see what level of portal that you would be allowed to go through." He said , in a monotone voice has she had her hand on face up and started to move her fingers as if she was rushing me.
I gave her my identification badge that proved my rank and also showed all of my achievements while I was going under my training. Then Sophitia stretched her arm over my shoulder and handed the lady behind the desk her badge as well.
"It looks like we have a sniper and a scout who is proficient with energy weapons.
I am only allowed t9 grant you access to Gama and Delta grade portals. Which grade of portal are you feeling like taking on?" She asked me the same monotone voice.
"I want to stick to Gama grade portals today." I said to her in just as much of a serious tone as she had given to me this entire time that we have been talking.
" We have only four of them available now. The first one is home to imps and possibly succubi. The second one is home to Infernal Foxes and Abyss Knights. Our third choice has Ash Crawlers and Magma Spiders. The final one has Lava Toads and Pain Mages. Which choice are you going to take?" She asked in an urgent tone.
Which portal would I choose to conquer as my first one as a member of a team? Which enemies would I have the strength to fight? Should I just blind me pick one, or should I ask Sophitia what her opinion was?
