Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: A New Start

Laying on the flattest stone among the night sky with ripples of darkness swaying around like tendrils of night, "What does it even mean to be a beast in this era of men? They call us monsters, yet after today, they've out showed this time," reaching for the stars, I spoke out.

"Ancestors hear my name and answer my… *yawn* ritual. It's time to collect my brothers and sisters and for me to move on, although half to survive aren't even of the night clan but rather our proclaimed enemy of the light, but she's too psycho even for them so guess that makes her close enough to us, anyways, bla bla bla come collect them before the wilds claim them and they can't return to Hela"

Speaking to the sky, black hands emerged from under me and began shooting out from every direction, "Ritual complete, now on to the next step, grab Livia in morning and then move over to the neighboring tribe, they're barbarians but hold a strong sense of pride and glory so they'll accept us as refugees if we state our tribe had been wiped out by an ambush and then the sob story which led to us turning to them in hopes to reclaim the lost honor for our tribe, then if that works, all that's left is actually having to adapt to our new life styles, oh and hide that we aren't mortals…"

Sitting all the way up, any negotiable feelings had heen instantly dismissed, "Our race will go extinct at this rate, and if I'm going to have to restore our numbers as the new tribe chief, then damn… Ugh!" frustrated, this century is going to be exhausting, I just wanted to farm.

* * * * *The Next Day* * * * *

Leaving early as the sun arose, the valley I had knew since young had been ransacked and purged by the humans yesterday. Only my closest friend and I had survived as we had been away from the tribe only to come back to a river of blood and my kin's bodies desecrated and defiled. We were peaceful.

Simple gatherers who forged for food and lived together for survival. Nah, I'm going to kill them. I had a family, even if I'm the black sheep of the tribe, I had things I love and care for, but now, what do I have to lose other than... Looking to the lithe brown skinned women following closely behind me, crying her eyes out and holding my hand. I got her.

And I felt for her. Even though I was trying to act tough so we could make it out of this alive, seeing her like this left a tight pain in my chest but what could I do other than offer my words.

"Hey, look ahead, I can see their camp ahead, just stick with me a little longer and then you'll be safe there. Promise Livi," I said in a kinder tone as I turned around and held out my pinky with my other hand. And looking at me, her golden eyes glistened as they turned wetter.

"You're just going to leave me?" she whined and whimpered, "I need to get stronger. I'm going to join their warriors, I'll join you at the camp or wherever we decide to stay," but she grabbed my arm hugging it tightly, "Nonono!" She cried and began pounding on my chest.

But pushing her back, "Hey hey! Stop that! Remember the plan! I know this sucks right now but if we're going to lay low before I can rebuild the tribe I'm going to need you to-"

She started freaking out, and knowing they'll hear her if this spiral continued. I slapped her ass covered in hide and shocking her in a startled jolt, "Chill the fuck out, I remember being a team. Let's talk later about the plan when we actually have somewhere safe to be. Okay" I complained as she looked to me sourly while rubbing her butt hissing, "hey!"

But then hugging her neck and pulling her close, "I'm not just going to ditch a fellow tribeswoman, we're in this together"

Calming her down. We walked up to the barbarians base. And upon greeting their guards who aimed their spears to our necks.

I began to act and report to them what had happened to the west getting them to lower their weapons and take us to their chief.

Livia's sorrowful tears alone were enough to pull off our scheme and forward our plans. In the next moment we arrived at the chiefs tent.

Entering it we were instantly met with the most towering figure I'd ever laid my eyes on. A man who towered like a bear more than any man and feeling the tension upon our sight. I whispered, "Bow," over to Livia as I begun to prostrate myself before their tribes lord.

Seeking anew among the Stone Age for us to gather our strength and rebuild what was lost.
