Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 10 — WHEN PATHS ARE CHOSEN

The night following Stellan's faint was eerily still.

Too still.

It felt as if the universe was pausing, anticipating what the two boys, unaware of their profound impact on creation, would do next.

---

Lyra's Truth Begins to Surface

Stellan and Lyra were seated together beneath the old willow tree, with moonlight dappling the ground through the leaves.

Lyra kept casting worried glances in Stellan's direction.

"You frightened me," she murmured. "When you collapsed… it felt like something wanted to pull you away."

Stellan looked down at his hands.

"I don't understand why it keeps calling me. It feels… familiar. Like something lost to me."

Lyra hesitated.

"I think I might know why."

Stellan turned to her.

Lyra swallowed nervously.

"When you held my hand earlier… something inside me stirred. It was like a light awakening. I saw flashes — not of you, not of me, but of a different place. A distant realm."

Stellan froze.

Somewhere else.

Somewhere beyond humanity.

Lyra frowned.

"I don't believe I'm ordinary, Stellan… and I'm convinced I'm here for a purpose."

The universe had intentionally placed her near him.

A connection.

A counterbalance.

A force of stability.

But the true nature of her being remained unknown.

Neither did he.

---

Ren's New Ability Revealed

Ren trained through the night at the abandoned shrine.

He struck the air with his fist—

And reality shifted.

A ripple formed before him — a distortion that made the trees sway like images in water.

Ren stared in awe.

"Once more."

He punched forward again.

This time, the air tore slightly, like a piece of fabric being stretched apart. A brief rift opened — merely for a second — then closed.

The force sent a gust of wind sweeping across the shrine, displacing loose stones.

Ren grinned predatorily.

"This… this is power."

He didn't fully grasp it.

But one thing was clear:

Stellan's miracles healed, restored, balanced.

Ren's powers dismantled, warped, transformed.

And it felt right.

---

The Seeker Confronts Ren

Ren turned as a figure emerged into the moonlit clearing.

The Seeker.

"Ren Samael," he said, his tone low. "You've awakened what should remain untouched."

Ren narrowed his eyes.

"What do you want?"

The Seeker advanced.

"You must control yourself. Unrestrained power leads to destruction. Your path… is perilous."

Ren smirked.

"So? Danger strengthens me."

The Seeker examined him with seriousness.

"You remind me of another.

A being who once stood beside infinity… before he turned against it."

Ren's smile faded.

"Are you threatening me?"

"No." The Seeker shook his head. "I'm cautioning you. The shadow within you is not an ally. It mirrors your will — yet your will remains unrefined."

Ren stepped forward, defiant.

"I don't need your guidance. Stellan is chosen. Stellan hears whispers. Stellan gets rescued every time."

His fists clenched.

"I'll forge my own path."

The Seeker's expression darkened.

"You are nothing like Stellan."

Ren's gaze sharpened.

"I know."

Layers Beyond

Through the deep hours of the night, the world trembled.

A ripple flowed across Astren — unnoticed by adults, but acutely sensed by the children.

Stellan awoke suddenly.

Ren glanced up from his training.

Lyra halted mid-step.

Something immense shifted.

In the Black Hole realm, a ring of collapsing stars momentarily opened — revealing a profound darkness beneath.

The first of the cosmology's sublayers stirred to life.

Sylvion and Kael sensed it immediately.

Kael muttered solemnly:

"They're nearing the first veil."

Sylvion nodded slowly.

"If they cross it… the true ascent begins."

The Event That Changes Everything

At dawn, a tremor shook Astren.

Minor — barely strong enough to displace dust — yet sufficient to make every villager look up in alarm.

Birds flew in chaotic formations.

The wind twisted unnaturally.

The eclipse ring glimmered like a heartbeat.

And at the center of the village square…

A crack appeared in the stone ground.

Narrow.

Precise.

Unnatural.

A symbol formed within the crack — glowing momentarily before fading:

No one understood its significance.

But three children felt it resonate in their bones.

Stellan whispered:

"It's beginning."

Ren offered a faint smirk:

"Good."

Lyra clutched her chest, sensing something awaken within her.

Though the event was small.

Harmless.

It signaled the first announcement from the cosmology itself.

The initial indication:

Their rise has commenced.
