"Come. Take the hand of your King."
I frowned at his dramatic flair, but I didn't quite have a choice. Maybe I could find out more from this trip. I slipped my hands in his. It was warm and firm.
Allen guided us straight out of the palace, leading us down the front marble steps to the courtyard.
Waiting outside was a massive setup. There were dozens of armored guards on horseback, royal attendants running back and forth, and a luxurious, velvet-lined carriage hitched to four massive black horses.
I looked around in absolute bewilderment. "It's just a hunting trip... why are there so many horses and carriages?"
Allen chuckled softly under his breath, nudging me gently toward the carriage door. "Just get in, Ezra."
He guided me inside the plush carriage, stepping in right after me and closing the door. As the carriage lurched forward, I looked up to find him staring at me intently.
