Chapter 41 - Prologue: The Ones Beyond Reach

Prologue: The Ones Beyond Reach

The void stretched endlessly, yet it was neither empty nor alive. It simply was—a space where existence thinned and reality bent at the will of the unmeasurable.

Leo stood there, calm. Light and Void coiled around him like obedient serpents, their motions effortless, as though they had always known their master.

"…So she has awakened again," he murmured, his voice threading through the silence, touching nothing yet reverberating through everything.

Below, the threads of causality shimmered—unstable, violent, alive. One burned brighter than the rest: Raya.

He recalled the moment the Shadow King had struck, the moment his presence had been required, the moment the line between life and death wavered. Kira had stood beside her. Lina had been there. And yet, even with all their combined skill, the world almost tore itself apart.

"I warned him," Leo said quietly. "Kira always walks too close to the edge."

He breathed in, and the world obeyed, folding layers of reality back to reveal deeper truths. Names surfaced, like echoes too old to fade.

"…Seraphyn." The Absolute Arbiter. She judged by necessity, untethered by fear or power.

"…Aethernox." The Origin. Not a god, not a ruler—but the reason existence itself persisted. Untouched. Unreachable.

"I can bend causality, collapse laws, command even sovereigns," Leo whispered. "But you… you are untouched."

For a single heartbeat, he allowed himself to feel it—the distance, the impossibility, the truth of what lay beyond even his grasp. Then he let it go.

"Still," he said, voice steady once more, "I will move forward."

Below, the Shadow King had accepted his command. Raya would be trained. Kira would survive. Chris would grow stronger. The story would continue.

"And if the day comes," Leo whispered, "when even I must stand before you…"

Light and Void aligned perfectly, silent, inevitable.

"…then I will do so without regret."

Far away, Seraphyn observed, unreadable. Aethernox remained silent, a presence that did not need words.

And Leo stepped back into the flow of the world—a king who knew his limits, and chose to walk forward anyway.
