The interview took a few minutes, and by the time it was over, I tried to move through the courtyard. But everywhere I turned, the socialites were there. They blocked every path, their voices trilling with a fake, high-pitched excitement that made my head throb in pain.

"It's a smart move," her friend responded, sipping from a crystal flute. "The Wests get the land, the public gets the sob story, and eventually, they get into the favor of Roman West thanks to his beautiful wife. I heard she was the one who made Roman get the land. She's much more ruthless than she looks."
