As the system responded, a translucent panel appeared before Sam's eyes.
All the previously locked sections were now unlocked, and there was an additional empty space labeled **Usable Energy Storage**. Right now, it looked completely bare, with only a few wispy, mist-like tendrils drifting around—this must be the so-called energy.
"This is the space for storing energy available to the host. When energy is obtained, the system will extract a portion to fill this space for the host's free use. There is no upper limit to energy storage."
Sam thought to himself—using this energy space must be one of the ways to utilize energy. Even though the space was mostly empty now, there was still a tiny bit of energy left inside. It must be the remainder after using the energy from the two hidden tasks he'd completed to pay off his earlier debt to the system.
Having figured this out, Sam stopped focusing on the energy space and turned his attention to the six main sections.
The two previously available functions—**Scout** and **Identify**—had been slightly adjusted with additional descriptions:- **Scout**: Range 50 meters, 1/1 use per day, can remain active for 20 minutes continuously.- **Identify**: No changes, 3/3 uses, resets every 5 days.
Sam's eyes lit up with excitement when he landed on the third section—**Warehouse**. Was this equivalent to a portable storage space?
He clicked on the Warehouse button, and a mental image of a 3m×3m×3m cube space instantly appeared in his mind, along with a prompt: *Cannot store living creatures; time stands still for all items inside*.
Sam stroked his chin, glanced at the animal hide on his stone bed, and thought, *Store it*.
The hide vanished from his sight immediately and reappeared inside the warehouse. His eyes sparkled. He then thought, *Take it out*, and the hide instantly left the warehouse and appeared on his lap.
He picked up the hide and examined it from all angles. A new idea struck him, and he stored the hide away again. This time, when he retrieved it, he specified a location—and the hide reappeared in a corner of the bed instead of on his lap.
*It can designate specific locations!* Realizing this function, Sam experimented with the hide several more times.
In the end, he confirmed the range of the storage function: centered on himself, within a 1-meter radius, he could freely store items and designate their retrieval locations at will.
This was by far the most practical function he'd gotten so far. The Scout range was too small, and he couldn't go many places anyway. The Identify function was like opening blind boxes—too few uses, too long a cooldown, and it was all luck whether he could identify anything useful. Besides, there weren't many unknown items he could use it on right now.
After figuring out the Warehouse, Sam looked at the last three sections: **Mall**, **Encyclopedia**, and **Character Scan**.
He opened the Mall first and found it divided into three detailed categories: *Finished Products*, *Blueprints*, and *Materials*.
Purchasing items from the Mall required energy. He browsed through the goods:- *Finished Products*: Ready-to-use items, but they cost the most energy.- *Blueprints + Materials*: Making items himself was far cheaper, and he could produce as many as he wanted as long as he had enough materials. Finished products, once damaged, were gone for good.
Glancing at his nearly empty energy storage space, Sam silently closed the Mall. He couldn't afford a single item right now—and the ones he could afford, like the toothbrush he was craving, he could make himself anyway.
Next, he opened the **Encyclopedia** section, and his eyes widened in delight.
The Encyclopedia was split into two modules:1. **Search Engine**: This function could connect to the search engine from his original modern world. He could use it to look up any knowledge he needed. However, it had limitations—he could only search for information, not communicate with his original world through it. Moreover, each use consumed energy, and the longer he used it, the more energy it drained. Even so, this gave him a huge boost of hope—the system *could* connect to his world, which meant there really was a chance he could go home someday.2. **Beast World Compendium**: This contained records of every living creature and object that existed on the Beast World continent. If Sam could read and memorize the entire compendium, there would be nothing in this world he didn't recognize. But looking at the massive amount of data, Sam swallowed hard. Just reading through all of it would take decades, let alone memorizing it all. He decided to put it aside for now and browse it in his free time. This compendium could be used alongside the Identify function—if he found something unknown, he could check it here first, and only use Identify if he was in a hurry to know its uses.
Having categorized this module, he turned to the last section—**Character Scan**.
- **Character Scan**: Check target's physical status, 1/1 use per day, resets daily.
This section confused him a little. Just from the name, he couldn't guess what it did. Did "Character" refer to himself?
He tried clicking on the function.
"Target not specified. Scan failed," the system's voice echoed in his mind.
"System, how exactly does this work?" Sam asked.
"The host needs to specify a target. Once specified, the system will scan the target and feed back their relevant physical status to the host."
"Can I use it on myself?"
"Yes, host."
"Alright, scan me," Sam said. Immediately, the 1/1 under Character Scan changed to 0/1.
After a short wait, he received the system's feedback:> **Sam**> Age: 22, Gender: Male, Race: Human> Physical Status: Healthy (compared to peers in original world); Sub-healthy (compared to sub-beastmen in this world)> Negative Status: Tendency to oversleep> No other illnesses or ailments.
After reading his own status, Sam let out a low whistle. With this function, he could easily see through anyone's physical condition—any illnesses would be revealed with a single scan, allowing him to prescribe the right remedies. This was incredibly useful! As long as he had access to the right herbs, he could save countless lives. Used properly, this would be a huge boon for the tribe's development!
It took Sam a long time to calm his excitement before closing the panel and continuing to look down.
Below the main sections was the **Quest Panel**. He reviewed the entire panel:- **Main Quest**: Develop Azure Mountain Tribe (Long-term quest in progress)- **Upgrade Reward**: One unidentified scenic landscape map. What is its purpose? Please continue to upgrade the system to find out!- **Random Quests**: Not triggered yet- **Hidden Quests**: Will be triggered only after the host completes prerequisite conditions- **Note**: If completed quests have a sustained positive impact on development, the host will continue to gain energy. The system will not send additional notifications for this.- **Last Rating**: Not yet rated- **Suggested Direction**: Everything is just beginning—please take active action, host.
