"Damn it, they're already here," Steven muttered under his breath. His movements felt too slow.

If only he were stronger. If he had managed to concentrate his attacks and defeat Yanmega instantly, this would be a two-on-three situation right now. Two Overlord-level Pokémon against three Alpha-level Pokémon—wouldn't that guarantee victory?

A golden, shimmering current surged around Electivire's body, crackling with raw power like a fierce tiger ready to pounce. Electivire launched itself forward with Wild Charge, its golden electricity cutting through the black smoke as its massive body slammed into Metagross with tremendous force.

Even Metagross was knocked backward several meters from the impact.

"Meta...gross..." Metagross took a moment to catch its breath, its sharp gaze fixed on Electivire.

The besieged Yanmega had sustained injuries but hadn't lost its ability to battle. Steven glanced at the Pokémon that had re-surrounded him, his mind racing through possible strategies for what to do next.

Without hesitation, Steven leaped back onto Metagross's back and commanded it to jump down. The spiral staircase of Mirage Tower had no railings, making it easy for Steven and Metagross to leap directly to the first floor below.

Steven looked up and saw Electivire following close behind, dropping down after Metagross. The fists in its hands still flickered with electricity.

As Steven flipped through the air and landed, he waved his hand and shouted, "Meteor Mash—block it!"

"Metagross!"

Metagross's gaze locked onto Electivire, more specifically, onto its charged fists.

Bang—

Their fists collided with explosive force.

Electivire was shocked to find its fists trembling uncontrollably during the clash.

Buzz buzz—

Yanmega attempted to provide support, but a green figure instantly blocked its path. Two flashes of cold steel struck, and Yanmega was knocked to the ground.

Just as Scyther prepared to finish it off with Air Slash, Mismagius's shadowy form attacked from the side, forcing Scyther to abandon its pursuit and leap away to dodge.

The purple Drapion descended from the stone steps, its powerful pincers gleaming with a dark, ominous luster.

Metagross suddenly pulled back its strength, causing Electivire to lose its balance and stumble forward. Seizing the opening, Metagross swung its other fist, sending Electivire flying backward, then quickly turned to face the aggressive Drapion approaching.

However, Drapion had already closed the distance—too close for Metagross to swing its iron fists effectively. It could only raise its arms defensively to grab Drapion's forelegs.

But Drapion's legs were long, and the pincers at the ends, gleaming with dark energy, clamped onto Metagross's arms.

"Metagross!"

Metagross cried out in pain as its arms weakened. Drapion followed up with a powerful headbutt, sending Metagross sliding backward several meters.

Being a Poison and Dark-type, Drapion was completely immune to Metagross's Psychic-type attacks. Only Ground-type moves would be effective against it.

"Lairon, use Stomp!" Steven quickly released a Poké Ball from his belt. With a flash of white light, Lairon made its entrance.

Lairon's raw power was a level below its opponents, but launching a surprise attack would be enough.

"Kuo!"

Lairon slammed its forelegs onto the ground, sending a wave of energy rippling through the earth like a powerful shockwave, rushing toward all the Pokémon on the battlefield.

"Metagross! Use Psychic to lift me up!"

Metagross slammed its arms to the ground and instantly used its magnetic abilities to levitate. At the same time, its eyes glowed blue as it used Psychic to lift Steven into the air.

Two distinct shockwaves struck Electivire and Drapion respectively.

Mismagius possessed the Levitate ability, while both Scyther and Yanmega were Flying-types, leaving them unaffected.

Bang!

The energy from Stomp hit Electivire and Drapion. Despite the power difference, the super-effective type advantage allowed the attack to deal considerable damage to both Pokémon.

On the stone staircase leading from the second to the third floor, five Pokémon Hunters were casually making their way down.

"That kid should be just about out of strength by now, right?" Number Eight's expression shifted quickly, his face now wearing a relaxed look.

The sounds of commotion from below reached their ears. With five against one, they naturally assumed they still held the advantage.

"Still, be careful. Don't let anything go wrong," Number Three said in a deep voice.

"Wait... Is that my Froslass?!" Number Four had just started to nod in agreement when he suddenly spotted Froslass lying on the ground.

Number Four rushed to his Pokémon. After checking her condition, he grimly recalled Froslass into her Poké Ball.

"It seems things aren't going well," Number Three said with a frown, turning to head toward the first floor.

"You little brat!" Number Eight's face changed drastically again, anger flashing across his features.

Bang bang...

The continuous sounds of battle from below gave the five hunters a growing sense of unease.

At that moment, with the coordinated efforts of Metagross, Scyther, Lairon, and Skarmory, Steven had successfully subdued all four opposing Pokémon. However, his own team had sustained various degrees of injury. The main battlers, Scyther and Metagross, clearly bore the heavier wounds.

This was the difference between having a Trainer's commands and not having them.

If the five hunters had each commanded their Pokémon in battle—especially with difficult opponents like Mismagius and Froslass—Steven probably wouldn't have been able to escape. The fight wouldn't have been nearly this manageable.

But without coordinated commands, Steven's tactical abilities were fully exploited, leading him to a decisive victory.

Steven pulled out several Sitrus Berries and handed them to his four Pokémon. There was still a Weavile upstairs to deal with, so they needed to recover some stamina.

Accompanied by the sound of hurried footsteps, Steven looked up at the five people rushing down the stone steps. A slight smile played on his lips as he waved at them.

"You're... a bit too slow, don't you think?"

It was as if Steven had become the hunter—the one hunting them.

"What do we do, Number Three?!"

"Stop talking and run back! Find Number Two!"

At Number Three's command, all five turned and ran back up the stairs, not even bothering to recall the Pokémon lying defeated on the ground.

"Psychic!" Steven suddenly called out.

Metagross's eyes glowed blue as it seized control of all five hunters with its psychic power. They couldn't resist the Psychic abilities of a Overlord-level Pokémon.

Once locked in place, Metagross dragged the five people down in front of Steven, leaving them completely at his mercy.

Steven looked coldly at these five Pokémon Hunters, contemplating how to deal with them. Since they had intended to kill him and steal Metagross, he wouldn't show any mercy.

"Once I deal with the one upstairs, I'll send you on your way," Steven said in a cold voice.

"Mmm mmm mmm..."

They tried to speak, but with Psychic completely controlling them, they couldn't even open their mouths.

"Knock them unconscious, then break their limbs," Steven ordered coldly.

Metagross nodded. It intended to break all their limbs first—there was no need to knock them out beforehand. These five couldn't endure the pain of having all their limbs broken and simply fainted from the agony.

Five against one, and they ended up being counter-defeated... Could they have played this any worse?

"Next is the person upstairs..."

"But before that..."

Steven pulled out some healing potions for Scyther and Metagross to help them recover temporarily. Then he retrieved Poké Balls and recalled all the Pokémon that had lost their ability to battle, locking the Poké Ball mechanisms to prevent them from being released.

"Let's go, Metagross, Scyther."

Steven's gaze was sharp as he looked toward the ceiling above.

"Time to finish this."
