"YOU STUPID WOMAN! THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY ME!?"
"oh shit" Owen gasped as an angry man's voice echoed through the apartment complex.
It was the voice of The C-Rank hunter living below his apartment. 'Mr. Vonn'. He was the husband of the most beautiful, busty and curvaceous woman Owen had ever seen in his life. 'Yuki'. And she was the Subject to all of his 'midnight obsessions'.
But she was a married older woman, so he had never made a move on her, just some greetings here and there, and helping her move heavy things or taking out the trash.
Because of these few interactions he had with her, he came to know that she was sad in her marriage. Vonn had been an abusive husband, beating her at every opportunity he got.
Owen could never understand this as Yuki was the most perfect woman a man could ever ask for, both physically and Character-wise.
But it was never in his place to speak to Vonn about his abusiveness so he never did. The abuse even got worse when Vonn awakened as a C-Rank hunter a year ago, C-rank was an ideal rank for hunters, they were always in demand as they were the bulk of the hunter force...not too weak and not too strong.
But Vonn was too full of himself and a narcissist and felt he deserved to be an S-Rank hunter, and was greatly disappointed by his C-Rank awakening, so he took out that aggression on his wife.
But today, Yuki had finally come to her senses and asked for a divorce, which was want prompted the early scream Owen had heard from Vonn.
Owen took of his gamer headset off, paused his streaming and ran out of his apartment. Other residents of the complex were already outside in their corridors, ready to ease drop on what was happening, Snoopy neighbors.
"You stupid bitch! Seems I haven't hit you enough, huh!?" Vonn shouted again from inside his apartment.
"Stop this Vonn! Just sign the papers please!" Yuki's voice was loud too but was filled with so much subbing and sadness that could be felt by all the neighbors.
They all knew she deserved better.
"Good for her, She's finally getting the divorce" One neighbor said.
"I thought she would be in that marriage till Vonn killed her" Another said.
But just as another could offer another comment, a huge sound echoed round the complex again.
SMACK!
It was a slap! Vonn had slapped Yuki, again.
Owen immediately ran down to their apartment and started hitting the door.
"Open the fuck up, Vonn! Open! This! Door!" Owen yelled as he kept on slamming against the door.
Vonn finally opened the door, revealing his huge frame that almost made Owen's Confidence dwindle.
But Owen looked past Vonn, into the apartment, and could see Yuki on the ground, crying.
Owen's blood boiled as he clenched his fists
"You bastard!" He yelled, taking a swing at Vonn.
It missed, of course it did. Owen was an Unawakened ordinary human while Vonn was a C-rank hunter.
"Hah! You little bastard. You wanna play the hero? Fine!" Vonn laughed as he kicked Owen, grabbed him by the collar and flung him into the court yard of the apartment complex.
Vonn then walked out of the door and into the court yard where Owen had landed and was trying to get up, clutching his stomach in pain.
"I've always known you wanted my wife, you perverted fuck!"
"I've seen you, lustfully looking at her all the time while helping her take out the trash huh? What? You wanna be our maid huh!?" Vonn yelled.
He looked up and saw all the neighbours from the upper floors watching the spectacle beneath them.
"How about I give y'all a real show!" Vonn said as he held out his hand and a sword materialised out of nowhere.
'inventory?' Owen thought. Owen wasn't awakened, but he had accessed countless web novels and had studied Hunters long enough to know a few things about them.
Hunters had a system like a Game-like status screen.
Hunters had levels and level caps.
Hunters had skills/abilities.
Hunters had Ranks.
And hunters had access to an Inventory subspace.
and from most of what Yuki had told Owen, Owen knew Vonn was a C-rank Level 25 with a skill called [Slash (D-Grade)].
Owen could never win in a fight against him as he was now.
"Vonn! Stop it! He has nothing to do with this!" Yuki Yelled as she had gotten up and came out into the court yard too.
"Shut the fuck up bitch! I bet you wanted to cheat on me with this fucking weasel, but you know what? Let's see how you'd do that with his hands cut off"
Vonn lunged towards Owen with a downward swing attempting to cut his hand off, but Owen was smart, he had expected this and had grabbed a handful of sand.
He tossed the sand towards the incoming Vonn.
It scattered across his face, blinding him temporarily and giving Owen enough time to roll out of the way.
"Arrgh! You fucker! now I'm really mad!" Vonn yelled, cleaning the sand off his face and revealing his reddened eyes.
Vonn then took a Unique stance, with his two holds gripping onto his sword.
From What Owen had read on the internet, he knew Vonn was about to activate a skill.
It had been said on the internet that some hunter skills have certain requirements to be activated, some were the stats, pose, incantations. Etc.
And the pose Vonn was striking was a similar pose for swordsmen skills.
"Let me see you dodge this one, fucker!" Vonn yelled as he leaped forward and too a swing when he was still at a distance from Owen.
"Hah! Fool!" Owen said but then a visible blue Energy Seeped out of Vonn's sword swing and shot towards Owen in a fast and straight light
"oh shit!"
