Amara's POV
Maybe my words had gotten through to Dominic.
He went silent for the remainder of our drive, staring vacantly ahead, clearly deep in thought.
We pulled up to an upscale karaoke lounge as dusk settled over the city.
I stepped out of the car, my face impassive as I took in the garish neon display sprawling before us.
Dominic moved closer, his voice dropping to a murmur. "Ready to hear me perform?"
He gestured at himself with mock grandeur. "The Karaoke King himself will serenade you all evening!"
Without a word or change of expression, I turned and started walking away.
Dominic hurried to catch up.
"Look," he said, "I figure we understand each other pretty well by now. Trading some intel wouldn't be unreasonable. Friends should support each other's growth, right?"
I stopped dead in my tracks, spun around, and fixed him with a stare. "You know what? You're absolutely right. Let's do this."
