Amara's POV
I shot Dominic a sideways look and said casually, "One hundred per second."
Theodore looked confused. "A hundred per second? What's that supposed to mean?"
"He wants three more years of life," I explained. "For those three years, it comes to a hundred bucks every second."
Theodore went quiet.
Even though Theodore was stunned by Dominic's reckless spending, his thoughts mirrored mine when I first heard Dominic's three-year request.
"With your connections, you've got access to top-tier medical care. Your lifespan shouldn't be much of a concern yet, should it?"
Plus, medical advances kept pushing boundaries.
Someone with Dominic's clout had no business being this frantic.
"Nope." Dominic wagged his finger. "I need three years where I can actually live, not a decade stuck in some hospital bed."
Theodore and I exchanged glances.
"What could possibly matter more than staying alive?" I asked.
Dominic's whole attitude made it look like he had a death wish.
