Amara's POV
The staff member's voice carried a note of desperation. "We've searched every corner, but she's nowhere to be found. Miss Vancourts's car and driver are still waiting outside, and her phone's completely dead.
"Surveillance at the exhibition center is reviewing the surveillance tapes. The footage shows Miss Vancourts walking into a bathroom, but she never walked back out..."
Dominic had been planning lunch with me, and his patience with Vancourts's drama was wearing thin.
His tone turned sharp. "Vancourts's an adult. What's the point of dragging me into this when she disappears? I'm not some fortune teller who can magic her back into existence. If it's that serious, contact the police."
"Understood."
The staff member bobbed his head frantically, then pressed on, "Mr. Vancourts, would you be able to reach Miss Vancourts's family?"
"Absolutely not," Dominic's refusal came ice-cold. "Her parents make my skin crawl. One look at them and I break out in hives."
