Dominic's POV
I grind my back teeth until they nearly crack, listening to these two.
Digby shoots me a glance, clearly amused, and whispers, "Is he playing dumb to hide his strength?"
Amara snorts. "More like he's playing dumb to scrounge a meal."
The words hit me like a slap.
They're speaking quietly, but I'm sitting right beside them, so I catch every word.
Thank god I've got thick skin. I quickly put on my most pitiful expression and say, "Come on, sweetheart, I thought holding your hand meant I had your heart. Didn't realize you were everyone's girl."
Amara, Digby, and everyone else go dead silent.
'Sweetheart?' I can practically see Amara thinking. 'He actually had the balls to say that out loud?'
Amara stares at me. "May I ask, Mr. Vancourts, how old are you?"
I flash her a cocky grin. "Mid-twenties."
