Bella's POV
I'd heard enough. With a sharp crack, I slammed the window shut, cutting off whatever else he planned to say.

Lucius's jaw tightened as he stepped forward, only to spot Jasper approaching with fury written across his face.
Before Lucius could brace himself, Jasper's fist connected with his jaw.
The unexpected blow sent Lucius staggering, and he spun to face his attacker, blood trickling from his split lip.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Lucius snarled, dabbing at the crimson streak.
Jasper wasn't finished. He seized Lucius by his shirt front, his voice shaking with barely contained rage—the first time in years he'd completely lost his composure.
"I left Bella in your hands," he growled. "This is how you kept her safe?"
"She's been withdrawn since returning home. I figured she was just being stubborn. But after seeing those bruises covering her body today... I know what happened at that camp was barbaric."
