Bella's POV
Gideon bellowed like a wild beast, his rage completely powerless.
He stepped into my path and Rosalind's, his features contorted with malice as he snarled, "Everyone witnessed it plain as day. Your horse hurt Ivy. Don't you have something to say?"
I thought to myself, 'With all that mayhem happening on the field, who could really say whether Ivy pulled some dirty trick?'
Gideon only saw Ivy tumble from her mount and instantly decided I was to blame.
To him, I was nothing but cruel and envious.
He believed I couldn't stand Ivy, so today's accident must have been my carefully planned attack.
I'd given up hoping for anything from Gideon long ago. Facing his accusations, I simply asked with indifference, "Where's your proof?"
Rather than scrambling to defend myself against false charges, I went on the offensive instead.
I flipped the situation around, throwing a question back at him and dumping the burden of proof right in his lap.
