Bella's POV
After returning to Winter Wing, I couldn't shake my uneasiness. That woman's desperate screams wouldn't stop replaying in my head.
I sat frozen in place for quite some time, completely lost in my thoughts.
Penny approached with a steaming cup, setting it down next to me. "Miss, please have some calming tea," she said gently.
I blinked, momentarily confused.
It had been forever since I'd tasted this blend. Back at the Fairfax house, I used to drink it regularly.
As a kid, the constant abuse left me plagued by nightmares.
Genevieve would have the servants prepare this tea for me.
But I never got to sit still for long—I'd always rush off to tend to Ivy's fragile health.
Seeing the familiar drink now left me feeling disoriented.
"What made you brew this?" I asked.
Penny shifted nervously. "You almost went into the river today. I figured you were shaken up and needed something soothing."
