Bella's POV
The silence in the room was deafening, so complete I could hear my own heartbeat.
A freezing, deadly energy filled the space like thick syrup, making it hard to breathe.
Diana stared at me with pure murder in her eyes, but as she watched, something shifted and the hatred slowly melted away.
She let out a soft laugh that quickly spiraled into maniacal cackling. Her voice dripped with twisted pleasure as she said, "I'll give you one shot. Cure my headaches, and you get to keep breathing."
I lowered my head slightly and replied with careful respect, "Whatever you wish, Your Highness."
Diana clearly hadn't expected me to accept. Her migraines were something she'd been born with, a curse that had plagued her since childhood.
From the moment she could understand pain, these headaches would strike without warning.
Diana obviously doubted me, and I could tell from her expression she was wondering what made me think I could succeed where every royal doctor had failed.
