Chapter 92 - Chapter 92 Stumbling Upon a Desert Temple, Enchanted Golden Apples

Why would a zombie suddenly think there was no air around it and suffocate for no reason?

But that was exactly what happened.

Unlike torches, although rails also served as barrier blocks that occupied potential zombie spawn points,

there was one crucial difference between the two.

Torches existed as individual units, but rails could either stand alone or be connected.

To players, rails were transparent and could be walked over at any time.

But in the eyes of a zombie, they were a series of linked blocks. Once they stepped in, they would find to their surprise—

that they were surrounded by blocks!

Blocks meant obstacles, and obstacles needed to be bypassed. However, with blocks everywhere, there was simply no way out.

So, the zombies were stuck on the rails.

This was the underlying code at work.

He closed his eyes for a short nap until the first light of dawn broke and the Blood Moon vanished.

Still, no zombies managed to break through the rail formation; they were all trapped outside the Great Wall.

Another easy Blood Moon survived!

"Another safe night for the great Galen Yu!"

"I thought Galen Yu would be invincible with his two guardians, but I didn't expect this!"

"Why even bother with the Snow Queen when a single redstone contraption solves everything!"

"If you ever feel useless, just look at the Giant Guardian in Galen Yu's chunk!"

"No zombies broke through at all. The Giant Guardian is bored out of his mind."

"This guardian... I feel like even I could do his job!"

"Jokes aside, as the final line of defense, it's better if the Giant Guardian stays idle!"

The Snow Queen could fly and summon Ice Crystals to provide ranged damage.

The Giant Guardian only had melee attacks and couldn't damage zombies from a distance.

As the last line of defense, his deployment would signify a dire crisis, and the Nine Provinces' audience didn't want to see that happen.

As the sun rose, the zombies began to catch fire.

A moment later, they died, leaving a field of item drops behind.

"Day 26 of the Crisis, and we're safe."

"But only for now."

The rail technique was powerful, but the Crisis Zombies weren't weak either.

It worked for now, but whether rails could stop them in the future remained to be seen.

To be safe, Galen Yu decided to add a few more layers of defense to his chunk.

"Since I've got nothing better to do, time to mine!"

In the distance, a few more block resources seemed to have spawned. With no zombies during the day, it was relatively safe.

He was mainly looking for two things this time.

Obsidian and lava, while also scavenging for other miscellaneous items.

He wasn't disappointed. The new area had plenty of lava and several obsidian blocks.

He mined them all and was about to head back to Sky Island when he noticed something.

"Huh, new blocks again? This is desert terrain."

He needed some sand, so he switched to his shovel and approached.

Besides the sand and cacti everywhere, Galen Yu discovered a unique structure exclusive to the desert.

A Desert Temple!

Shaped like a pyramid, it was primarily composed of sandstone, orange and blue terracotta, sandstone slabs, and sandstone stairs.

The ground floor had a main entrance, with two side doors near the top of the pyramid.

The temple floor was 21x21 blocks, with a checkered pattern of terracotta and sandstone at its center.

On the surface, the temple looked empty, but the truly valuable loot was hidden beneath the blue terracotta in the center of the floor.

Excited by the possibility of finding good loot, Galen Yu headed inside.

Little did he know, many viewers in the chat were worried for him.

"A Desert Temple? That cursed thing is back!"

"It's a trap! It's easily the most deceptive building in the block world—bar none!"

"It's killed countless players. Why does such a thing even exist?"

"The chests are all hidden. If you're unlucky, you won't even find them!"

"The scariest part isn't not finding them, it's finding them and realizing you've stepped on a pressure plate!"

"The whole place is rigged with TNT, and it's hard to escape. It's so devious!"

"Hans Nation's player died to one. I hope the great Galen Yu leaves soon; it would be a disaster if he tripped up here."

"Too late. This little puzzle is nothing to Galen Yu. He's found the chests!"

The Nine Provinces' audience felt their hearts skip a beat as they watched Galen Yu dig in the center.

They feared that any second now, he would fall into the secret chamber, trigger the pressure plate, and explode.

The ground was packed with TNT. Even with the best Twilight Forest gear—Fiery armor mixed with Yeti equipment—survival wasn't guaranteed.

Even if he survived, the chests would be obliterated in the blast, leaving nothing behind.

He'd get blown up for nothing and waste time healing. It would be a massive loss!

Meanwhile, the foreign viewers were filled with anticipation, chanting under their breaths.

"Fall! Fall!"

"Galen Yu didn't bring a mace this time. Let the fall kill him!"

"I hope he dies in that temple!"

Unlike those novice players, Galen Yu knew exactly that the Desert Temple was rigged with TNT.

He was careful from the moment he started digging.

He didn't drop straight down the middle. Instead, he calculated the position and dug a small hole off to the side.

He was incredibly meticulous, ensuring not even a single item drop fell through.

Item drops could trigger pressure plates, and he didn't want his chests destroyed by accident.

His caution proved to be justified.

After digging down two blocks, the secret chamber became clearly visible.

There wasn't just one pressure plate in the center; this chamber had nine of them.

'Strange. A normal Desert Temple chamber only has one pressure plate in the dead center. Why are there nine here?'

They completely covered the floor of the secret chamber.

He dug even more carefully, descending vertically until he was near the pressure plates. He then broke through the floor to clear out the TNT underneath.

Once he was certain there were no more traps, he began searching the four chests with peace of mind.

[BONE *7, SPIDER EYE *2, ROTTEN FLESH *2, DIAMOND *4, DIAMOND HORSE ARMOR *1]

The first chest made Galen Yu's eyes light up.

"Four diamonds and a diamond horse armor!"

Diamonds were highly valuable, and diamond horse armor was a rare item that couldn't be crafted—it could only be found in loot chests.

"The loot rate is definitely better with nine pressure plates protecting it!"

He opened the second chest, and it was equally surprising.

[BONE *6, ROTTEN FLESH *3, GOLD INGOT *4, ENCHANTED GOLDEN APPLE *1]

Even stronger than a regular Golden Apple—an Enchanted Golden Apple!

Like the diamond horse armor, it was a special item that couldn't be crafted and only found in chests.

He thought his luck would end there, but in the third and fourth chests, Galen Yu found more Enchanted Golden Apples.

Looking at the four Enchanted Golden Apples in his hand, Galen Yu fell into deep thought.

The chat was equally shocked.

"Holy crap, Golden Apples can be enchanted?!"

"I thought the Golden Apple was the peak. My mind is blown!"

"The buffs from a regular Golden Apple are already so good. How strong is the enchanted one?"

"Who said the Desert Temple was a trap? This place is amazing!"

"It has nothing to do with the building. I think Galen Yu is just too good. Anyone else would have suffered a huge loss just now!"

"It's all about being cautious. He's making a bank!"

"Wait, did you guys hear something?!"
