In truth, Hyuga Yu had already mastered two types of nature transformation for his chakra.
The first was the nature transformation of Wind Release chakra.
The second was a highly unique form of chakra based on the Hyuga Clan's innate Kekkei Genkai, the Byakugan, combined with the pride of the clan's martial arts: the Taijutsu-style Gentle Fist Art of the Eight Trigrams.
This chakra did not have a specific formal name; to the members of the Hyuga Clan, it seemed to be a commonplace, unremarkable part of their existence. Yu, however, named it "Byakugan Chakra."
After careful comparative research, Yu unexpectedly discovered that this chakra possessed characteristics that ordinary shinobi could not comprehend at all.
A common misconception needs to be clarified here: the Hyuga Clan's Gentle Fist should not be simplified as just a martial art or Taijutsu similar to Tai Chi that focuses on striking pressure points. Even describing it as "Nintaijutsu" doesn't quite fit. More accurately, it is a Secret Technique developed based on their Kekkei Genkai.
After activating the Byakugan, a Hyuga member can see the entire chakra pathway system. By practicing the ancestral Gentle Fist, they can release this fluid Byakugan Chakra from any tenketsu on their body.
This chakra, naturally generated through the practice of the Gentle Fist, possesses a truly monstrous effect:
It can intrude upon and destroy any element converted via chakra or any substance containing chakra.
The progenitor, Kaguya Otsutsuki, shattering a Susanoo with three punches; Isshiki Otsutsuki kicking a "giant robot pilot" straight out of their cockpit; Neji Hyuga killing Kidomaru by grabbing a single thread of spider silk infused with chakra—all of these were essentially manifestations of this special chakra's effects.
Of course, the performance of this ability varies greatly from person to person. Yu speculated that the effectiveness was tied to the quantity of chakra, chakra control, and the qualitative grade of the chakra itself.
At the very least, based on Yu's own practical tests, his Byakugan Chakra couldn't even be projected outward as a protective shroud. If he were to punch a dozens-of-meters-tall Susanoo, he would likely only cause a tiny ripple.
Currently, this ability was limited to helping him decompose the chakra refined within his body, allowing him to safely practice unstable ninjutsu.
From this perspective, the Hyuga Clan's heritage was not inferior to that of the Uchiha Clan.
Once he understood the characteristics of the chakra generated by the Byakugan, Yu understood what the Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack actually was.
That's right—it was essentially the Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm struck eighty times in rapid succession!
The principle behind Kaguya Otsutsuki's Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack was no different from the Vacuum Palm used by an ordinary Hyuga shinobi. The ancestors truly hadn't held anything back; the strongest Taijutsu in the Shippuden era was practically a manual distributed to every Hyuga member.
Unfortunately, their descendants were far too rigid.
As long as it was something passed down from the ancestors, they inherited it all—good or bad. The Main and Branch house system, the Gentle Fist, the refusal to learn ninjutsu—they didn't distinguish between the useful and the outdated. If it came from the ancestors, it was good. Surely the ancestors wouldn't harm me?
Because the Otsutsuki had no concept of "jutsu," the traditional Hyuga Clan—despite being top-tier in terms of chakra control—simply refused to learn ninjutsu. Why learn such garbage ninjutsu? Our ancestors never used it! Our ancestors were the greatest.
In truth, practicing those flashy techniques might have been useless anyway. In the late stages of the war against the Otsutsuki, one had to rely on Taijutsu and Senjutsu. Thus, the Hyuga's path wasn't actually wrong, and the ancestors hadn't led them astray.
Even a flashy piece of junk like the Susanoo was nothing more than a target for a single punch or kick in front of an Otsutsuki.
It was just a pity that throughout the history of the shinobi world, the Hyuga Clan hadn't produced a single member with the chakra reserves of a Naruto, or even the levels of a Kisame, the Raikage, or Gaara.
Yu couldn't help but feel a sense of regret for them.
However, he quickly snapped out of it and focused on the jutsu in his hands. He was in no position to laugh at others. At the very least, a "complete" Hyuga like Hiashi Hyuga could still go toe-to-toe with one of the Ten-Tails' tails.
The mediocrely talented Yu, meanwhile, had to abandon the Hyuga traditions and force himself onto a path where the destination was shrouded in mist.
Morning, 7:00 AM.
The morning sunlight hit the gates of Konoha, casting a massive shadow.
Having achieved basic mastery of Wind Release: Vacuum Blade and finishing his preparations, Yu arrived at the gate fully geared up.
During wartime, Konohagakure maintained strict regulations on shinobi on standby; leaving the village without cause would result in being labeled a Rogue Ninja. Although Yu had received a verbal transfer order from Root the previous night, this order had no written documentation and lacked official recognition. Aside from Yu himself, the number of people who knew about it probably didn't exceed five.
As Yu walked toward the registration desk at the front gate, he felt a bit apprehensive.
The guards at the gate weren't yet the famous "Gatekeeper Duo" of the future. Instead, two Chunin from the Barrier Corps were on rotation. Seeing Yu approach, one spoke up:
"Name?"
"Hyuga Yu."
"You're leaving the village?"
"Yes."
"What do you mean 'yes'? Where are your mission documents?"
Yu's mouth twitched slightly. He could only pull the Main House transfer order that Hyuga Iroha had delivered that morning from the pouch on his thigh.
The guard snatched the scroll, unfurled it, and took a look.
"Huh? This timing isn't right. Are you—?"
Sure enough, seeing the departure time marked on the scroll, the guard's face showed a hint of suspicion.
Before he could interrogate further, the other guard—a man with spiky hair—leaned over and spoke up.
"Anbu sent notice this morning. A few missions had their times modified after being discussed at the Hokage Residence. Did you forget?"
"Oh, right." The guard realized his mistake and gave Yu an apologetic smile. He went inside to cross-reference a file. "Hyuga Yu, heading to the Kusunami Coast to reinforce the East Coast front as a Medical Ninja. Yeah, that's the one."
The guard quickly stamped Yu's transfer order and handed the scroll back with a shake of his head.
"A Medical Ninja this young is heading to the battlefield... Sigh."
"Good luck out there."
"Thank you," Yu replied calmly with a nod. He stepped through the gates of Konoha.
Following the straight road outside the village, his figure gradually grew smaller until he disappeared over the horizon.
Soon after he left, a team of shinobi arrived at the gate in a hurry.
The leader was a Jonin from the Hyuga Branch House. Behind him followed Hyuga Tetsu, a member of the Aburame Clan, and an Inuzuka member with their ninken.
"Eh? That figure looks familiar..."
Tetsu stared at the solitary, resolute back disappearing into the distance and tilted his head in confusion.
Beside him, a teammate looked up. "Really? You're probably seeing things."
However, Tetsu still felt uneasy. "It couldn't be Hyuga Yu, could it?!"
Subconsciously, he reached out to activate his Byakugan to investigate.
Suddenly, a tall, sturdy figure flashed forward, pressing a finger against Tetsu's temple to stop him. The man spoke with a serious expression:
"Tetsu, do not activate the Byakugan in such a sensitive area. The member of the Main House will be here any second!"
