Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: We need money, people, and opponents

"I announce that the Akagi Middle School Baseball Team is officially established, starting now!"

The Akagi Middle School Baseball Team members sat together in a circle, and Sawamura announced cheerfully.

To welcome everyone, Sawamura generously played host and treated everyone to a good meal.

"How much pocket money do you have left?"

His childhood friend Wakana asked worriedly when it was time to pay.

Today's expenses were quite a lot for students.

"Don't worry, don't worry, it's just a drop in the bucket.

I'll apply for activity funds from the principal!"

With the establishment of the Akagi Middle School Baseball Club, Sawamura believed it was a great event, and it was necessary to inform his own principal and get the old man to bleed some money.

"Haha, no problem, no problem."

Principal Takada, in his fifties, had a kind face and spoke slowly, just like the grandpa next door.

Hearing Sawamura's request, he readily agreed, very happily.

With a wave of his pen, he approved a voucher for 10,000 yen and gave it to Sawamura.

After giving the money, he remembered to ask: "Have you found a supervising teacher yet?"

The school has regulations that every club must have its own supervising teacher, and the newly established baseball club is naturally the same.

Sawamura happily took the money and left.

He had no concept of money, whether in this life or the previous one.

So he didn't realize that although 10,000 yen was a lot, it was just a drop in the bucket for a baseball club that had nothing.

Not to mention luxuries like baseball uniforms, even the money for baseball bats and gloves was not enough.

Although the process was not very smooth, the Akagi Middle School Baseball Team was still stubbornly established.

It was like a wild weed, waiting to usher in a new life.

After getting the activity funds, Sawamura's next step was to find a supervising teacher.

He already had someone in mind.

"Teacher Sano, you are so handsome and dashing, if you can't lead a baseball team to dominate, how can you show your infinite charm?"

In the Akagi Middle School teacher's office, Sawamura was working hard to persuade his homeroom teacher.

Sano, who was being pestered by him, was 1.65 meters tall, weighed 120 kilograms, and had a slightly receding hairline, making him look older than his actual age.

For a single teacher who didn't even have a girlfriend, being a supervising teacher for the newly established baseball club was a waste of time.

He still had to find the other half of his life.

But looking at the student in front of him who was praising him endlessly, he couldn't bring himself to refuse.

This kid, if nothing else, had good taste.

"I…"

Before Sano could speak, Sawamura grabbed his hand and said excitedly: "I knew it, Teacher Sano is the best!

It's settled then, these are the practice match opponents I found, I hope you can contact them as soon as possible.

Our teammates are eager to play!"

Sano held the paper that Sawamura had shoved into his hand, opened his mouth several times, and finally smiled wryly.

He originally wanted to say that he really didn't have time.

But forget it, this student has such good taste, helping him out is fine.

Then he focused his gaze on the paper in his hand, Tenryu Middle School, Nagano Metropolitan Middle School, Shintagakuen…

What the hell are these three schools?

With a try-it-and-see attitude, Sano called all three schools.

After finishing the calls, Sano calmly put down the phone, and then his entire face twisted.

"What the hell are they, saying we're not worthy, what are they?"

Tenryu Middle School, a famous hegemon in Nagano Prefecture.

Nagano Metropolitan Middle School, runner-up in last year's national tournament.

Shinta Middle School, a regular in the top four of Nagano Prefecture.

In Nagano Prefecture, which has only forty or so middle schools in total, they are all top-tier powerhouses.

Of course, Sawamura didn't say this, and Sano, who knew nothing about baseball, would never know.

"What's so great about them, I don't believe I can't find a suitable practice match opponent."

Sano was quite angered by the arrogance of several schools.

So he decided that he must find a truly decent practice opponent for the Akagi teammates.

"Teacher Wada, you're a baseball fan, right?"

Wada, a teacher in the same office as Sano, usually loves baseball very much.

He knows the Koshien and professional players like the back of his hand.

"That's right, Teacher Sano is also interested in baseball."

"Of course ~"

Sano smiled perfunctorily, he really didn't know what to say.

He actually knew nothing about baseball, but he had just become the supervising teacher of the baseball club.

"I wanted to ask Teacher Wada, are there any famous baseball teams near us?"

As soon as Wada started talking about baseball, his whole person suddenly radiated a different kind of brilliance.

"Yes, isn't it right next door to us."

Next door?

Sano didn't understand, there was a middle school next to them, were they very good at baseball?

"You don't know, do you, Shiryu Middle School made it to the third round."

Wada had an expression of pride.

What the hell is the third round?

Sano said that he didn't understand baseball, and understanding baseball lovers was really difficult.

"Let's put it this way, if all the middle schools in Nagano are divided into four equal parts, then Shiryu Middle School is the highest grade.

Last year, they eliminated 75% of the schools.

If they hadn't run into the hegemon Tenryu Middle School, it wouldn't have been impossible to make it to the top eight…"

Wada said confidently, while Sano listened without understanding.

But it felt like Shiryu Middle School was much better than the several schools he had just called.

Okay, let's choose it!

"Shiryu Middle School?"

The news Sano brought back left Sawamura speechless.

Sawamura didn't really know much about this old neighbor.

The only information he got was probably their practice match results.

This was still when Sawamura was running in the morning and heard a student from Shiryu Middle School say that.

It seemed like they had won eleven out of sixteen games.

Judging from this, Shiryu Middle School's strength should still be somewhat decent.

Although he didn't get to play against his ideal team, it was still acceptable to have Shiryu as an opponent.

"Thank you, teacher, as expected, with your handsomeness and dashingness, being a baseball club supervising teacher is simply child's play."

Listening to Sawamura's flattering words, Sano felt that the young man still had good taste and knew how to talk.

Wada, who was listening next to him, stared with his eyes wide open, looking at Sano's bloated figure and receding hairline.

He tried to find some of the handsomeness and dashingness that Sawamura mentioned from him.

Okay, he admitted that he was blind, he really didn't find these qualities in Teacher Sano.

Wada admitted that this was also related to his little emotions.

As a well-known baseball enthusiast in all of Akagi, why wasn't he chosen to be the baseball club's supervising teacher?
