Chapter 99: The Two-Faced Heir
"When you have to go to important events… he carries you, doesn't he? Princess-style."
Bella's cheeks colored faintly, embarrassed. "Only for important matters. The duke's announcement, family gatherings… most days, I cannot leave this room at all. My body is too weak. I tire so easily."
"That's not healthy," Hannah said, her tone firm but kind.
"Humans need sunlight. Fresh air. To walk, to move, to feel the wind. Staying inside all the time… it makes weakness worse."
Bella's gaze dropped to her hands, which rested gently over the fluffy pile of sleeping puppies at her feet.
"I know. But there is nothing I can do. My body has been this way for years. The healers have tried everything. Nothing works. They say my mana is too thin, my constitution too fragile. Any strain, even walking too far, leaves me bedridden for days."
Hannah leaned forward slightly, her golden eyes earnest, her voice soft but steady.
