Chapter 17 - Journey to the Holy City - Kliene (9)

Seth up and vanished on us. I'm getting really irritated with the abnormalities going on with him. It's not his fault, it's not his fault. I kept saying to myself. Lucas and Ry went looking for him. Auri stayed with me. I was talking to Ry when Seth disappeared. Lucas noticed him missing first.

"He can't be that far." Lucas said.

"You said he teleported?" I frowned.

"Yeah…. His body looked like it got whisked away by some summoning spell." Lucas folded his arms.

"So you saw it happen."

"Yeah, but only out of the corner of my eye."

We regrouped and we found nothing. Ry rubbed his head in thought. Lucas whistled.

"He'll be back." Lucas said.

I was getting anxious. It's been an hour since he disappeared. What if he doesn't return? What if he's dead! I bit my lip. This is nerve wracking. What if he needs help.

'The boy is fine.' Avalorne said to me.

I froze. Where has he been? I grew angry.

'Chill your jets. I just ventured out to find him. I located him above us. He's talking to someone.' Avalorne sighed. 'He'll be back in a bit.'

He's above us? I glanced up and I saw nothing but sky. Come back soon.

 Come back soon. I told the others and we decided to stay put until he came back.

"Told you." Lucas smiled.

I narrowed my eyes at him, "I don't need that right now."

He raised his hands in defense, "As you wish, your Highness."

I grumbled and sat down. Losing Seth is a huge fear of mine. I'm unnaturally attached to him. He's a closer friend to me than Ryan Allen. Though, I doubt Seth views me in the same way.

The lake was still glass. The animals departed as the sun was beginning to set.

"We should start meal planning." Ry looked at the time on his system panel.

I sighed, he was right. Auri was brooding hard. Her fox was beside her nudging her with its paw. I don't judge her, I'm feeling the same way.

"The royal kitchen has a salad and burgers. They also have sandwiches. What would you like?" Ry asked me.

"Sandwich. Turkey please." I blew out a breath.

"He'll make it back in one piece. He's tough, your Highness." Ry said gently.

I nodded and a sandwich appeared in his hand on a napkin. He handed it to me and a bottle of water materialized next to me. He bowed and walked off. I glanced at Auri again, she had a sandwich in her hand too. Auri was staring blankly into space. She bit into her sandwich and drooped again. I got up and walked over to her. She looked at me and I sat down next to her.

"Chin up Auri." I smiled.

"I will when momma gets back." Auri scooted into me.

I pulled her into me and patted her head. I wasn't even hungry. I was more worried about Seth. I closed my eyes and began to sleep.

~~~
"Your name is Seth?" I asked the young man in front of me. We were seated across from each other. The Akademiya we were both in, paired us together for exams.
"Yes your Highness." Seth said gently.
I recognized him. Quinton brought him back with us when we visited a town. I remember those golden-brown eyes. Even though I was only ten at the time, I remembered him vividly.
"What's your element?"
"Unda, your Highness."
I smiled. I already knew that. He manipulates Unda beautifully as if it was an extension of himself. I could sit for hours just watching him train. Seth offered a small smile back. He was nervous. I don't blame him. I am the High Prince after all. My father better let me keep Seth if we grow to become friends.
"What was your score on the entrance exams?" I asked him.
"Hm? Don't you have access to those files?" He looked at me confused.
"I do, but I don't look at them."
"I see. It was zero."
"Zero?!" I spluttered. "That's impossible."
"I know. I broke the tester."
"B-broke… the tester. Okay. Wow." I grinned a bit. Who is this guy?
"The tester backlashed from my powers and exploded. They let me pass surprisingly." Seth said gently. "What's yours?"
"My test score or my element?"
"Both."
"Ninety-eight and Ignis."
Seth nodded, "Do you know why we are the only nation without a god?"
"No."
"Because, it's rumored that our guardian god will descend to claim a human soon. I bet… that human will be you, your Highness."
~~~~

He was right. After the night that both of my parents and Quinton died, I was visited by Avalorne in my dreams and awoke as a Pylae. My nation received his blessing and many powerful Halosis began to sprout. My nation is named the Realm of Saints and Warriors for a reason. We house many talented Halosis.

Ry nudged me, "He's back."

I glanced around and spotted Seth walking up to us. He was outfitted in pure black with gold accents at his throat. He had a pendant hanging by his neck in that same star shape that Astorian scrolls have, it was shimmering white silver.

Seth walked over to me and I flinched. His eyes were more gold than brown. IT was a subtle difference that only I would take note of. He tipped his head in confusion.

"Glad to have you back." I spoke quickly, "Um, what's this?" I pointed to his pendant.

Seth took it off and sighed, "It's from that guy who abducted me."

"It's the same color that was impaled into you during the night at the inn."

Seth held it up and frowned, "Yeah… you're right."

"I don't like it." I said sharply, "Throw it out."

"I've tried, it keeps coming back." He said dryly.

"Heh…" I sighed and ran my hand down my face. I looked at him again, "Who did you meet?"

"An old god." Seth scratched his cheek with his finger.

I bristled. A god?! I was fuming. What's with these gods and Seth? It's pissing me off.

"Um, your Highness?" Seth said.

I'm going to kill these gods!

"Your Highness." Seth said again.

I need to know who they are first. Then I'll go kill them.

"Your Highness!" Seth shouted.

"What?!" I yelled back.

"You're on fire!" Seth blasts me with Unda and I splutter.

I shook my head and ran my hand through my wet hair. "Sorry, I must've activated my gifts." I sighed and closed my arms. I glanced at him and he was frowning. "Would it kill you to crack a smile?"

Seth narrowed his eyes even more in response.

Guess it would.
