Chapter 19 - Chapter 17

Incarceratus lay in his bed. He was supposed to be discharged as soon as he got better and was conscious however they wouldn't let him out for an unknown reason. As he laid there he looked at his phone and decided to write Jeanne a message:

Hey! I'm awake again and feeling way better. I heard you had to fill in for me? Sorry for all the work that was piled up. Hope you can go through them without much trouble. I'll come to the office as soon as I'm discharged. See you later!

He stared at the message for a while and then with a touch of his thumb, sent it.

He waited for the message to be sent, but saw that there was no signal in the hospital room. Just as he wanted to resend it, he got a knock on his door.

A rough deep voice of a man was heard through the door: "Commander Incarceratus, the doctor is here to see you."

"Come in." He answered.

In came two tall muscular men, clad in a black and grey camouflage uniform, their faces hidden under balaclava masks. Both of their eyes looked out from a small cut out, staring down at the Commander.

Behind them followed a tall woman. Her purple hair was tied up into a pony tail. Her light green eyes sparkled under a pair of round glasses that sat on top of a small nose.

"Daniel, nice to see you again!" she smiled and waved.

"I'm sorry… but do I know you…?" Incarceratus asked her confused.

"Oh! I almost forgot that part, silly me!" She giggled and hid her mouth behind her hand.

"I'm Dr. Avaritia. Don't worry I'm a biiiig fan of yours." She said with a coy smile.

The Commander got a clump in his throat. Something told him that the woman before him was dangerous. Even though he didn't know her his brain was subconsciously afraid of her.

"Now Daniel, come with us we have to check up on your brain, since it seemed like you suffered from an unknown attack and were in a long unconscious state." She told him warmly.

His knees were shaking and his hands trembled, but he still stood up and followed her. He passed between the tall guards, still looking down at him and left his hospital room. He felt the stares of the two bodyguards drilling into his back, watching over his every movement.

They arrived and stepped into an elevator. The two men surrounded him in the small, confined space. Dr. Avaritia took a key out of her pocket and inserted it into a button. As it clicked in, she turned it around and the elevator started moving downwards.

After a good minute of silence, the elevator stood still and the doors opened with a ding!

Incarceratus stepped into a big round room with high tech utensils and bright screens. There were only a dozen people here, all of them in white coats, but no one paid any attention to the arrival.

"Boys. Stay here will you?" Avaritia patted one of the security guards on the shoulder.

He straightened up and was seemingly locked into position. Not a single muscle moved. It looked like he turned to stone. Then the other guard was tapped and he froze into position as well.

The doctor now turned to Incarceratus.

"Now come sit down." She pointed at a chair in the middle of the room. "There."

"Uhm, may I ask where I am and what you're going to do with me?" he asked her with a calm demanding voice. The Commander's eyebrows were furrowed and he looked around nervously.

"Of course!!" She beamed at him, trying to reassure him. "After all, the patient has the right to know what we are doing."

She walked towards the chair in the room and touched the seat gently, sliding her hands over the cushions.

"This here is a high tech brain scanner that allows us to see any damage that you may have suffered. We can see the smallest details and every electric signal."

The Commander was fascinated at the machinery but also scared at the same time.

He slowly made his way to the chair, still looking around him.

On the ceiling green lights shone down to illuminate the room and all the electrical devices. Numerous whiteboards with numbers and equations of all sorts hung on the walls.

The Commander arrived at the chair and hesitantly sat down.

"After this brain scan I'm finally discharged right?" He asked the doctor.

"Sure. But you are going to need a lot of catching up to do." She answered him, hiding a twisted smile.

"I can't wait to see Jeanne, Stella and my team again…" He mumbled to himself with a faint smile.

Then Avaritia fastened his arms and legs to the chair.

"Okay now all you have to do is close your eyes and everything will be juuuust fine." She smiled at him.

The engine behind him started roaring as she typed in commands on a console next to him.

Suddenly one of the guards moved. At first it was just a twitch, but then—

He sprinted towards them. Each step thumping on the floor, getting faster and faster.

His hand opened, reaching for the chair where Incarceratus was sitting. Just as he started to tear on the restraints—

"Stop. You piece of junk." She snapped her fingers.

He suddenly halted and fell down to the floor. His arms twitching and his body trembling.

As Avaritia loomed over him with a sadistic glint in her eye, she snapped once more.

The man on the ground was now tilting his head up.

The Commander saw the mask moving, the guard was clearly screaming but no sound came out.

Then suddenly—

WHAM.

The man hits his head against the ground.

WHAM. WHAM. WHAM.

Blood splattered. His eyes were bloodshot red. Blood was running out of his eyes and nose, dropping down into a small puddle. Then he went limp and fell to the ground.

Avaritia stared at him and clicked her tongue.

"Tsk." She turned to one of the few staff members, working in the background. "Have this fixed by tomorrow."

The scientist stood up and bowed before her.

Avaritia now glanced over her shoulder and stared at the Commander.

A shiver ran down Incarceratus' spine.

Something was terribly wrong here.

He tried to loosen his straps—He ripped and he teared with all his might, his nails turning white, but to no avail.

"Now. Now. Don't be rash." She exclaimed coldly. "We are not going to hurt you or anything."

Then she returned to her console and gave one last command in and pressed enter.

Even with his eyes open, the Commander started to lose sight and sound. He felt like he was falling into the chair and his body went limp.

The last thing he saw was Avaritia's greedy look on her face as she watched him fall unconscious—once again.
