Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Terrifying Destructive Power

At this moment, the police officers closest to the scene finally arrived—far too late.

They stepped out of their patrol car with Glock pistols in hand, preparing to issue standard warnings.

Then they saw a sight that would haunt them for the rest of their lives.

In front of the nearly four-meter-tall mechanical behemoth, even Lucas Reed—standing close to 1.9 meters tall—looked as small as a child.

Yet it was this "child" who threw a single punch.

The massive mech was sent flying backward like a kicked soccer ball.

"Shit!"

Seeing the enormous mech hurtling toward them through the air, the two officers' faces drained of color. They dove desperately to the side.

Boom!

The mech crashed down onto their patrol car, crushing it flat in an instant.

On the mech's chest plate—armor more than 20 millimeters thick—a perfectly clear fist-shaped dent was embedded.

The armed commander shook his dizzy head and hurriedly manipulated the controls, forcing the mech back to its feet.

As Lucas walked toward him, the commander raised the mech's left arm. The armor plates split apart, revealing a missile pod that rose smoothly into position.

The launcher locked onto Lucas.

Three missiles ignited simultaneously, screaming through the air with blazing exhaust trails.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Three brilliant explosions erupted on impact.

The two police officers had just struggled to their feet—only to be slammed back to the ground by the shockwaves.

Thick smoke billowed everywhere.

And then—

Lucas stepped out of the smoke, completely unharmed.

The commander's expression turned ghastly.

He had been a mercenary for nearly twenty years, traveled across the globe, and seen countless things science couldn't explain.

But he had never encountered someone as utterly unreasonable as this man.

Gritting his teeth, he slammed his thumb down on a glaring red button on the control panel.

The mech's head immediately transformed, unfolding as a massive cannon rapidly deployed.

The cannon's barrel was similar to the earlier weapons—semi-transparent, with metal coils clearly visible inside.

But this one was different.

Its caliber was a staggering 200 millimeters.

They were not even in the same league.

In the very next second, after barely two seconds of charging, a thigh-thick energy beam fired.

Lucas's pupils shrank.

The cannon wasn't aimed at him—

It was aimed at the building behind him, where Lex Luthor and Elaine were located.

Based on the firepower shown earlier in the stairwell, this single blast would be enough to erase five or six floors outright.

The building would be sliced cleanly in half.

In that instant, a powerful, semi-transparent energy erupted from Lucas's entire body, flaring around him like blazing flames.

He launched himself forward at terrifying speed.

Before the energy beam could reach the building, Lucas appeared directly in its path.

Both palms were already gathered before his chest, condensed with violently surging energy.

His hands snapped together.

A devastating energy wave burst forth in an instant.

When the two energies collided, a blinding light exploded across the area.

The next second—

A thunderous roar shook the surroundings as an overwhelming shockwave blasted outward.

The building's glass shattered instantly.

The façade facing the blast cracked violently, spiderwebs of fractures spreading everywhere.

Nearby landscaping was ripped out by the roots, soil and debris flung high into the air.

On the ground, the armed group's truck closest to the blast was hurled skyward.

Even the exoskeleton armor—already struggling to stand—was shoved backward more than ten meters.

Its metal feet carved deep furrows into the concrete just to stay upright.

Six police cars that had just arrived hadn't even entered the scene yet when the blinding light overwhelmed the drivers.

All six vehicles were lifted into the air and slammed down seven or eight meters away.

Even the SWAT armored vehicle behind them lost balance, spun several times, and crashed into a roadside building.

When the light finally faded, the area outside the company headquarters was pure devastation.

Not a single structure remained intact.

The scene looked as though it had been cleansed by a tactical missile strike—ruins everywhere.

The commander crawled out of the now-powerless exoskeleton.

As he looked up to assess the situation, a figure suddenly appeared in front of him, blocking his view entirely.

"!"

He instinctively threw a punch.

A hand caught it effortlessly.

The next moment, Lucas applied just a bit of force.

The commander screamed in agony as his entire body doubled over.

Every bone in his right arm had been completely pulverized—damage so severe it would never heal.

"Who sent you?" Lucas grabbed him by the throat and demanded coldly.

"You think… I'd tell you?" the commander sneered, forcing the words out through pain that would've knocked out an ordinary person.

Lucas had already expected that mercenaries would never betray their employer.

He prepared to crush the man's neck.

"BCPD—stop!"

A voice suddenly rang out.

Lucas turned his head.

A young police officer, covered in dust and abrasions, was aiming a Glock at him, shouting a warning.

Lucas didn't let go.

He simply stared at the officer.

Instantly, the officer felt an overwhelming pressure.

Breathing became difficult.

It was just like when his father had taken him to the zoo as a child—

standing before a roaring adult lion.

Those eyes—

The eyes of a top-tier predator that had haunted his nightmares for days.

"Drop him! Immediately!" the officer shouted, forcing himself to speak despite the terror.

"Or I have the authority to shoot you!"

Lucas said nothing.

But a trace of killing intent appeared in his gaze as he looked down at them.

The officer's fear exploded.

His hand trembled violently around the grip of his gun.

In his eyes now, Lucas wasn't a lion anymore—

He was a prehistoric tyrant T Rex.

"Put him down!"

More officers rushed in, raising their weapons and aiming at Lucas.

Yet Lucas did not release his grip.

He stared at them coldly.

He was suppressing it—

Suppressing the violent fury and murderous instinct surging from his Saiyan bloodline.

And at this moment, the officers finally understood—

That crushing, suffocating pressure weighing down on their souls.
