There was nothing I wanted more than to sit back and fall into unconsciousness, let Rowan handle this and get me out, but I couldn't. This was my fight just as much as hers. No more cowering back behind her. We were in this together. So I stayed and I watched her tear apart one of the werewolves, while the other two began to shift into a terrible half-human, half-beast shape. Izzy was no longer laughing. She refused to leave the room, but she stayed in the back, watching with her eyes wide as her witches and werewolves tried but couldn't stop Rowan. The shifted werewolves were strong, but my wolf's thirst for Izzy's blood was stronger.
No matter how many claws dug into her skin and how many spells made her back off, she always stood back up and fought all alone against four of them.
