Chapter 4 - Memories of Last Night II

There had been a celebration at the inn the previous night.

Being a building with a deck, the floor above served as a pub while the floor below was the lodge.

The owner of the inn had just gotten married a day before and decided to celebrate with the individuals at his inn.

Aegon hadn't planned on going but he needed to eat after a long day of hunting beasts in the forest near the town.

Arriving there, he'd joined the others in drinking without knowing.

Cups after cups were gulped down in the wooden confinement and soon, they began displays fueled by their drunken state.

Aegon ended up with a splitting headache but he wasn't ordinary to begin with. He still found his way back to his room.

Just as he was about to leave, he heard a lady's scream from outside the building. He grunted in frustration, cursing his heightened sensed. If he wasn't so sensitive to such, he wouldn't have heard her in such a state and would've gone to bed.

With slow step, Aegon made his way down the stairs, doing his best not to stagger and fall forward.

He arrived at the bottom floor, heading for the outside without any delay.

His room was just to his left, a few doors away but he was moving further away.

Aegon opened the door and looked around. The moon hung in the sky, half its shaped revealed to those it watched over. There was no one around but Aegon knew where he was headed.

He went around the left wing of the building and in the dark alley close to the building, he could see three figures, clear as daytime.

There was a blonde lady with barely any clothes left on her body. Along with her were two male figures who looked at her like a prey ready to be devoured. They were without doubt, the ones who had placed her in such a situation.

Her deep blue eyes noticed his figure and screamed toward Aegon, crying for help, tear drops making their way down her cheeks.

Aegon could immediately tell what was going on. She was being harassed. Sexually.

The eyes of the men said it all. The dozens of alcohol Aegon had taken was finally catching up as he began seeing double.

Still, Aegon wasn't bothered. He couldn't feel an ounce of mana from them which could only mean one thing. The men were ordinary bandits looking to have their way with the dirt stained and almost naked beauty in front of them.

As though they wanted to confirm his conclusion, they both pulled out short daggers and began walking close to him.

"Hey! You deaf?" Only now did Aegon figure out that they'd been talking to him.

"You didn't see anything. Now scurry along." The same brown haired figure with a scar on his face, addressed Aegon. He guestured to Aegon with his dagger, telling him to get lost.

The other, however, had another thought. With his face like that of a corpse and eyes like they could stare one to death, he shook his head. "He saw enough. Let's just do away with him. One kill wouldn't change a thing."

Aegon could hear them but he wasn't thinking about them. His eyes remains fixed on the lady's body. She had bruises and cuts on her fair skin. Aegon could tell the men were responsible.

He was deciding if he would save her or if it would be too much of a hassle. He met her gaze and when he saw her beautiful face with teary eyes again, Aegon smiled. "You're quite lucky."

He had decided what to do with the men. He wouldn't kill them but he wasn't going to leave them alone.

"Hey! Answer me!" The corpse looking figure stood a meter away from Aegon, his dagger ready to stab into his opponent.

"Yeah, you need to spend some time regretting you actions." Aegon's gaze finally landed on the man.

Bang!

The man crashed into the wall of the inn from an unknown attack and he gassed for air. The lady didn't seen the attack. His colleague didn't seen the attack. Even he, didn't see the attack. He only felt something touch him and a second later, he smashed into a wall. He heard a crack and immediately knew he'd broken a bone. Which one? He didn't know.

No. He would've known it was a rib crack if he had time to check and fedl pain but unfortunately, there was none. Aegon was in front of him.

Again, none of them had seen him move. "A state of being half dead wouldn't be too much." He heard Aegon's voice filled with coldness which made his hairs stand, separate from one another.

The next attacks, none of them saw. They simply saw him fall to the ground, motionless.

The other man was scared witless but he couldn't move as he felt fear from behind him. Something terrifying was behind him.

Indeed, Aegon was there. "You have me the chance to run off so I'll give you the chance to do so too. Run along with your friend and turn yourselves in to the security guards before midnight tomorrow."

Aegon then ignored the man and began his lazy stroll down to the lady who fainted the moment he approached her.

"I never forget faces." Aegon threatened the man before vanishing.

He took her back to his room and spent his time treating her even through the splitting headache. His head continued to thrive as he cast healing magic on her bare body.

"Shit!"

Aegon voiced as he remembered all that took place the previous night.

Aegon's voice shoo her up, waking her from her sleep and she turned on the bed once again, lying face up. Everything revealed in front of Aegon.

He slapped his forehead. "I don't think I'll ever forget today." Then her eyes opened to see a man in front of her bed.
