Arlene had her lips gape as she dropped her utensils, and stood upright. She was quick with her feet, and grabbed Oscar's wheelchair.
No questions asked from her. She knew something was wrong.
But couldn't say the same for the twins: Eleanor screamed, and threw into a panic as she hold onto Oscar when the sudden shake fell before them. The food on their plates thrashed left and right in motion. Glasses with drinks or wine now thrashed, breaking as it dropped to the floor.
"No... It can't be!" The youngest, while in the commotion, heard the eldest brother and curled hands to fist. "Fuck! It's not time yet!"
Ethan thought it was nonsense for what its worth. Right now, he wasn't the one to stall time either. "We have to duck and hold—"
"No!" Damian got their attention. "Ethan, get up!"
Out of all of them, glared at the floor with anger— it was quite an anger they all saw for the first time.
Ethan curled his neck up, to see the dangling chandelier; with each glasses dropping on their dining table. All of them moved away.
The quake still continued and Eleanor lost her balance, and landed her arm on the ground with few glass shards. She hissed in pain, seeing how it tore a tad bit on her cape as well, revealing fresh wound; but never worse as Oscar caught her from further injury.
"I'm— I'm alright..." she muttered under her breath; just for their sister not to worry.
What seemed to be a clean, fine dining has overthrown to chaos. The shook somehow stopped with such intensity and left a series of aftershocks from time to time.
But right now, they heard screams, shouts of the sorts. Sirens blaring with intensity, and the building shook, and the sudden dusts fell before them; as though the ceiling would drop at any moment.
This time, Arlene dragged Oscar towards the door; but Damian halted her.
"I know this is hard to believe but... " His gaze went over them, and now closed. His hesitation disappeared as soon as the air around him changed.
Ethan locked his eyes, for what he witnessed was beyond ordinary.
Damian's hand went to his right waist and revealed a glow, and thus manifested a scabbard. He then unsheathe the sword. A light drawn from the sharp edge towards the tip with a glint. A sudden air roared around him, akin to hurling their clothes from a sudden wind.
His sword bathe with radiance and warmth. He gripped tightly on the iridescent hilt, and the surge of warm and comfort overcame them. The once sharp tightening, and the uncontrollable shake on their limbs now stopped.
Ethan's mind, got thrown in disarray, came to a chance and calmed down.
"From now on, please listen to me." Damian's voice was solemn yet too heavy, not even Arlene could fathom.
But all they could do was nod in return.
Oscar and Ethan fixed their gaze at their brother, then to each other, they shared the same sentiment.
To the ones who might be engrossed with games, they knew what it was.
But not in their wildest dreams would even come to a reality.
It wasn't the time to dilly-dally when Damian now slashed the wall in a blink of an eye. On the smooth surface revealed about few, strong slashes— enough to crumble the wall. Revealing to the same private room; Ruined and messy, but it was not as worse as theirs with food and all on the floor.
Series of shakes welcomed them; and this time the cries and shout of help and emergency now turned out to be panic and despair.
Right now, Ethan's had goosebumps all over as he heard roars and screams of unknown monsters toppled the scream of people.
"Let's go!" Damian waved his hand towards the crumbled wall, and Arlene didn't think twice as she now pushed Oscar to where they should be with Eleanor behind her.
Ethan lost his balance, in a close call when a sudden blast came close to them. The tremors present as the scream of monsters got close.
The door creaked, and it was one of the male staff that catered them. His head trickled with blood, drenching his suit. "Guests, please evacuate—" He then coughed up mouthful of blood when a sudden sharp protruded his chest.
The rest of the siblings cowered behind the wall, screaming in horror as they witnessed everything so far.
It was jagged appendage with now drenched with blood. Ethan's body shook out of his control and his stomach churned upon seeing what appeared before him. He ended up vomiting for all he cared now that he got somehow splattered with blood.
After the man getting stabbed ruthless, he got thrashed out of the view. Revealing a figure of a wolf, eyes beamed purple at Ethan.
He must never be a fool the next time around. He mustered up his courage, and reached towards the toppled chair.
'No! Get up! I have to get up!'
The one on its forehead, a steel-like rod, and a sudden crackle erupted. Smell of smoke present with tad sparks on it.
Imminent danger loomed in.
"Not on my watch, mutt!"
Damian's sword, in a distance, launch a gleaming strike, and reached the wolf monster. Slashing the large jagged horn and beyond its flesh, it let out a cry. But what seemed to start a spark from a shattered horn had him pull his youngest out of danger.
In a split second, he jumped towards the rest and slashed the sword from the ground, erupting what made a temporary block from the explosion blasted their ears and dusts that covered their vision.
Except for him, they coughed hard beneath their clothes, gasping for air.
"Are you okay?" Damian cupped Ethan's cheeks, and the youngest nodded a lot. "You'll be okay, got it?"
Oscar tugged his polo, for what transpired so far. His eyes dulled and croaked as his tears and his limp legs trembled with intensity. "Brother, don't leave us."
"I won't. I promise..." When the noise dulled a tad bit, Damian reached for his phone. "This area isn't good anymore. We have to keep moving. Until then, I'll do my best we will all be safe." He hugged them all tight as they sniffled underneath his clothes.
