Chapter 10 - Chapter 1.6

The studying sessions were really something, I spent them splitting my time wisely, 95% jackshit, and 5% studying for History.

On the day before the first exam, the 7th of June, I went alone to Oliver's house to study history with him. I had predetermined that I would actually try today.

"Hey man, come on in" He greeted me at the door. I spotted his little sister in the living room, I think she was still in primary school.

"Oh hiya there hun, welcome in. I was just baking a cake. Do you want some?" Oliver's mother was a godsend. She had the same hair as him, black and maroon, a nice blend.

I slowly turned my head to face Oliver, then slowly turned back to his mum.

"Absolutely Mrs Smit, I will eat as much of it as you give me"

I loved her baking so much I was willing to go all out for it, that's the kind of mother this lucky bastard had.

"Oh well I'll bring some in in a bit, you two get to studying you have your exams tomorrow"

Oliver led me up the stairs into his room where we cracked the books and got onto the studying grind.

Now that I was actually trying, Oliver noted that my notes were nigh on perfect, concise and neat.

"Yeah I used to study a lot when I was younger, part of my upbringing you know?"

Oliver seems to understand this, he had always been good at studying but damn could I recognise a natural genius when I saw one, he would easily come second to Egawa in these exams.

After around an hour and a half had passed, I had devoured six out of 10 available slices of cake, having mercy on the rest. Oliver was out of sorts, incapable of 100% focusing on his work solely, he was rather fixated on my studying ability when I was trying.

"I just want to ask you something Daniel"

"Yeah shoot away"

"You're.. not actually an 80 overall are you?"

I dropped my pen, and looked up at him, glaring at him.

"Why do you figure that?"

"You're incredibly efficient in study, I firmly think that either you're a lot smarter than you let on, or there's something behind the

scenes here that's making you do this"

"Do you want to know why I'm trying so hard today?"

"Yes"

"I have a bet going, with Sakurako Egawa. Whoever gets the higher score in history will get a singular request of the other, unrefusable"

"Why would she do a bet with you? You're nowhere near the top of the class with your B- in Academic Ability.."

"It's because she knows a rather unfortunate secret I have that I will be forced to abandon in 9 months"

"Can you tell me?"

I didn't know whether I should trust him here or not, I know he was smart so he'd continue to pester me and suspect me if I didn't.

Honestly that all seemed like a hassle so why not.

"My academic ability is not an 80, not even close, my intelligence is

also not an 81"

"Is it close to mine?"

"Yes"

"How close"

"Better"

"Show me"

"Fine"

I showed him my app, it had my real score on it of course. He saw that I was rated as a 100 in both intelligence and academic ability, his stats were as follows:

Oliver Smit

Academic Ability: A+ (97)

Intelligence: A- (93)

Decision Making: A- (90)

Physical Ability: C (76)

Adaptability: B- (80)

Social Contribution: B (84)

Cooperativeness: B (86)

Work Ethic: A+ (97)

Attentiveness: A (94)

Overall: B+ (88)

Potential: A (94)

Oliver was completely stunned looking at my app. Dumbfounded, he couldn't speak a word for around 30 seconds.

"W–W-How?"

"I'm the only person who's ever done this, gotten 100 in those"

"So you're far more capable than I could ever have really imagined. Dude that's wild"

He had regained his composure and wasn't even mad, just impressed.

"So you could totally be at the top of the school if you went all out?"

"Yeah I could. Don't worry, I have no intentions of doing that"

"I honestly hope you do, it'll be one hell of a spectacle"
