Maybe there were people who had seen Lyren attack the mayor's son but they could not speak up.
They knew that Lyren was not a useless young master and they had a feeling he had a bigger background and he was just a good actor.
The fact no one knew his cultivation level added that layer of mystery. There was no known Seals master who could seal the cultivation and leave no flaws.
This alone was his armor and they could not dare try to offend his backer. They just watched the performance and they could not help but pity the disciples who were being insulted.
One could take an insult one time and barely swallow it the second time but screaming it out the third time was unacceptable.
The kid had the guts and also the knowledge to have the upper hand. In the midst of the observers were two assassins who were watching with disbelief.
This kid was able to hide cultivation from them. This shocked them more because only those in the same realm and stronger could hide cultivation from each other.
Being unable to read someone an entire realm below you was a huge blow to their pride and also a deep mystery had been created around the kid.
They had been planning on interfering but with the variable Lady Sera, they could not. What shocked them was the fact that the young master seemed to have ties with Lady Sera. They were glad they did not have to make a move.
Sera was the most confused by this situation. Lyren had a way of putting her in a pinch. Had he not been involved with Kaelen trying to turn the group against her?
She had resolved that case back then but now, how was she going to resolve this. She did not have a solution. With his commoner act, no one could beat him up and there was no way he would have enough coins to satisfy everyone.
This would only get complicated when the students started a rebellion. She had to acknowledge that it was partly her fault for not going to find him.
She had also refused to tell him about the entrance fee and maybe he could not have made it but who could have thought that this roach had found his way into the city and also built himself a title of a young master?
She could feel all the stares and glares on her. She was number one but there was a limit to how much she could do. She helplessly looked around begging for someone with the knowledge and authority to come and save her.
There was no way she could solve this case.
"Haha…" The voice that came was aged and deliberately slow.
Sera was overjoyed when she heard this voice and when everyone heard it, they knew that it was time that justice got served. Lyren felt his end was here.
He had a chance of survival if he could exploit Sera but the old voice that came was obviously an elder. When the two assassins heard the voice, they shivered and they did not dare look up.
The voice was familiar to them all as it belonged to the head master and his word was the law.
"Seraphina, is he the kid you were telling me about?" The voice asked aloud and every eye turned towards Sera and even Lyren was surprised.
"Yes, Headmaster." Sera replied and bowed.
"Haha… You have done me proud Seraphina. I am going to be handing you the status of the core disciple during the entrance ceremony. Your merit has brought the academy pride.
"Thank your Headmaster." Sera's heart was racing. Her dream had been fulfilled. Just like that.
Everyone was confused when they heard the proclamation that Sera was going to be a core disciple and it was all tied to the kid groveling on her knees.
Just who was he and what were they missing. Even Claire was confused. Was the force behind the kid finally acting?
But it was obvious the headmaster did not know Lyren much about Lyren and it was Sera acting as a middle person.
Lyren knew what was going on and he realized that his entrance into the academy was sealed.
"Kid, I have been snooping around and I have learned that you are not a commoner. You really had me wondering. I know you have talent and you are also to be taken in as an inner disciple.
"Your talent beats that of Seraphina here, right? Seventh stage and barely thirteen... Lyren, are going to join my academy as an inner disciple?"
Everyone was surprised and all eyes fell on Lyren. Even Sera was flabbergasted. She had fallen into his commoner act and she had been exploited.
Why had she not thought about it? The story was too good to be true. Becoming a farmer?
Bullshit!
She was being played all along.
Lyren was surprised too but who would reject the goodwill to skip the entrance exams? Also, being accepted as an inner disciple directly was more than a headstart. He was not going to spend time climbing the ladder. He stood up and a cool demeaner permeated from him.
"I had come here to partake the entrance exams but since the headmaster feels that I am worthy to become an inner disciple, I will be accepting your offer. Thank you for your magnanimity."
Lyren said with a bow which was a sharp contrast to his foul mouth and previous act.
The students observed with their jaws dropping to the floor. Seventh Stage? Barely thirteen?
So, he was not just a useless young master, he was a hidden prodigy who was too arrogant and looked down on others. These were exactly the thoughts everyone, including Sera, carried.
Lyren knew that the headmaster had revealed his stage in order to make him a target and also give him some face.
If he just kept insulting everyone, they were going to break and discard the rules. But also, now that they knew he had cultivation, they could officially challenge him.
But the headmaster had thought it out.
"I know that you all are mad but I do not think that you would get this petty because of the truth. The kid has spilled the truth for you and I second his words.
"I won't be stopping any of you who are going to leave.
"I as the headmaster of this academy cannot tolerate disrespect and since it is difficult to punish those who are not our students, I will be suspending his punishment until he joins our academy."
The students listened to the headmaster and they wore ugly expressions but as he completed his speech, they realized the headmaster was actually thinking about them and the academy.
The fact he was going to be punishing Lyren after he joined the academy was a music to their ears.
They realized the headmaster had thought ahead by asking the kid if he was going to accept being a student. This meant that his punishment was inevitable. They sent side glances with evil smiles at Lyren who was still bowing.
Lyren realized that he had been played by the headmaster but he realized that this was the best outcome he could expect. He thought it was over but the guy leading the group spoke out.
"Headmaster, we would like to confirm that the kid has cultivation. It is the only way we who have been insulted can be at peace," everyone agreed with him and the headmaster chuckled.
"Lyren, this is going to be your first mission as I introduce you to the true cultivation world. Release your flames!"
Lyren grunted as he realized that the headmaster had done his homework on him properly to be able to know even his element. Lyren stretched his hand forward and stepped away from Sera.
He looked towards the students who had requested he show his proof of cultivation and he got a flashback of when he was fighting his dragon manifestation.
Flames spurted from his palm lighting up the surroundings and competing with the setting sun.
The students looked at the jet of flames coming at them and they scrambled away. The guy who spoke most was a second late as his robes were burnt up and his face was covered with soot.
They were surprised by the heat and even Sera was having a hard time accepting what she was seeing. Everyone had felt the aura leak and it was well into the seventh stage.
The students faced the ground in embarrassment as they had lost. Lyren could not stop the side of his mouth from twitching as he chuckled. That was actually satisfying…
"Now that the case is solved, let us resume with our activities. I do not want to see my student still bitter. If you want revenge, you should wait until he is officially enrolled. I will be watching."
The headmaster's voice disappeared after the case was solved and Lyren instinctively turned back only to see Claire who was beginning to sprint towards him.
"Young Master…"
