Chapter 10 - Chapter 10. To Use the Eyes

"Your greatest power is your eyes. Use them."

It's been a few days since Aerin's awakening, and also since he started his training, or more like getting beaten up by his grandfather.

During these past few days, they did nothing but train. However, he could not even last ten seconds. His grandfather never said anything except to use his eyes, which almost drove the kid insane.

Aerin was feeling indignant. Of course, he is using his eyes; how else was he supposed to fight? He felt that his grandfather should be more thorough with his training.

This time was no different. They were standing ten meters apart. However, this time, he really started to look at whatever was in front of his eyes. He can see it all. Every crease on his grandfather's mouth when he smiles, the way the hem of his grandfather's clothes sways with every breeze of the air, the faint raises on him every time he breathes, the ant on the ground searching for food, the birds in the air trying to look for worms, and even the leaves as they fell down to the ground on the very corner of his eyes. He can see it all clearly, as if he were looking at them directly all at once. A realization hit him.

Wait…

He noticed a sudden change in his grandfather's breathing, how he bent his body to the side a little, and the slight strain on the muscle on his legs. A split second later, Aaron disappeared.

Left.

Before, he could only guess where his grandfather would go, and if he's right, could only barely see a trail of him, now he was able to see a faint figure running towards him on his left.

He took a step back, dodging his grandfather's fist, seeing it whip past his face. And as he did so, he turned to look at his grandfather so that he would be in the center of his vision.

Doing that, he managed to see how his grandfather bent his knees a little, preparing to kick him with his left foot.

Before Aaron's foot even left the ground for a kick, Aerin was already starting to bend his body, ducking to dodge his grandfather's foot.

Aaron went past his grandson, and was now behind him. He did not immediately. He slowly turned his body to look at Aerin. There, his grandson was already facing him, his eyes sharp and focused.

"Now we're talking."

Aaron gave out a chuckle and, without any warning, lunged forward. He then threw a punch aimed at his grandson's face.

Aerin saw it and jumped sideways. However, Aaron's punch was only a feint, and he quickly followed his grandson's movement, throwing another punch with his other hand.

Aerin panicked. He did not even land yet, so he could only block the attack, which turned out to be a bad idea.

His frail arms are not enough to block an attack from a battle veteran like Aaron, so he was thrown a few meters back.

His arms tingled with pain and he could not get up for a while. However, that short moment of time was more than enough for Aaron to come and put his foot on his grandson's body.

Despite the defeat, Aerin was not discouraged. In fact, he was very delighted, excited even. He felt that he finally knew how to use his eyes. He used it wrong before.

Before he got his ability, he could only focus on one thing with his eyes. And so, when he fought with his ability, he subconsciously only focused on one part of his grandfather's body, ignoring the other things which he could clearly see.

Aaron, seeing his grandson's conviction, felt very proud. He finally found the right way to use his eyes.

"Okay, let's up the stakes for a bit. You must not let me touch even a sleeve of your shirt. "Once I touch you within the two-minute timeframe, you lose."

Aaron gave his usual kind smile. Aerin, though taken aback, took the challenge with a newfound determination.

"Bring it on, Grandpa! "
