After thinking of ways to break the news to Berryanna about the piece of art she had accidentally broken in the room she was never meant to be in, Straw decided to try one act. Even if she thought it would not work, she was somehow sure it would. Or maybe she just needed to believe that it would.
Straw stood naked in front of her bedroom mirror, her pink hair down, falling over her shoulders and back. Her skin prickled in the quiet of the room. She applied a bit of makeup to her face, careful strokes, steady hands that did not match the way her chest kept rising and falling too fast. She stared at her reflection, talking to herself, eyes locked on her own nervous gaze.
"This has to work. The naked man theory has to work, right? All I have to do is be naked in front of my woman and tell her what I did, so I will expect either death or sex," she said aloud, adjusting her hair again, fluffing it, tilting her head, trying to make it look seductive without looking desperate.
