Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 -- Discussion

Seeing Luo Feng and Jia Yi speaking quietly ahead, Bai Yue stepped forward and greeted them.

"Fengzi. Councilor Jia."

The two turned around. Bai Yue didn't waste time on pleasantries and went straight to the point.

"Do you know what's going on?"

Jia Yi shook his head slowly, his expression unusually grave. "Not the specifics. The notification I received only said one thing—this incident is catastrophic."

"Catastrophic…" Bai Yue repeated inwardly.

That single word was enough to confirm all his suspicions.

Seeing that neither of them had more information, he didn't press further. Instead, he exchanged a few words with other arriving Councilors. As more people entered, the meeting hall rapidly filled, and the air grew increasingly oppressive.

In less than five minutes, all Councilors were present.

Not only that—decision-makers from major global forces, Speakers of the War God Palace, and specially authorized high-ranking officials had all gathered. It was no exaggeration to say that, at this moment, the true apex of Human power on Earth was concentrated in this single hall.

A middle-aged man from across the ocean, wearing the uniform of a Commander-in-Chief, stepped forward. His voice was low, heavy, and devoid of embellishment.

"Esteemed Speakers, Councilors, and decision-makers," he said slowly, "we regret to inform you that Humanity is facing the greatest disaster in recorded history."

He paused for a breath.

"The survival of Humanity itself… is now in question."

At his signal, the massive screen at the front of the hall lit up.

The footage from the New York War Base replayed in silence. The black-gold armored Monster stood like a god of destruction. Laser cannons fired. Light dissipated. The Monster remained unharmed.

Then came the moment when it opened its mouth.

Space twisted.

The war base compressed, folded, and vanished.

Even through the screen, the desperate screams of soldiers could still be heard.

The hall fell deathly silent.

Hundreds of thousands of lives—gone in moments.

The Commander-in-Chief continued, his voice steady but strained. "All personnel at the war base have been confirmed dead. More critically, this Monster is commanding a massive army of sea Monsters, including two Monster Emperors, advancing inland through river systems."

The footage switched again, showing Monsters surging upstream, cities burning in the distance.

A moment later, the screen returned to the black-gold behemoth. Once more, it swallowed another fortified base with ease.

Some Councilors clenched their fists. Others closed their eyes.

This was not a battle—it was annihilation.

At this point, a bald, elderly white man stepped forward. His name was Clarence, an authority on ancient civilization ruins and extraterrestrial knowledge.

"I believe I can clarify the nature of this creature," Clarence said.

He quickly explained the universal cultivation hierarchy and the existence of Starry Sky Behemoths. Based on known records and the displayed abilities, he reached a clear conclusion.

"This Monster is a devouring-type Starry Sky Behemoth."

The moment those words were spoken, the atmosphere grew even heavier.

Clarence continued, "Given its demonstrated strength, if no decisive action is taken immediately, global base cities will suffer catastrophic losses. Industrial collapse, population extinction-level decline—these are not exaggerations, but likely outcomes."

As discussions erupted across the hall, even worse news arrived from the front lines.

The Starry Sky Behemoth had revealed a long-range attack—a terrifying laser-type ability. Five evacuation spacecraft attempting to flee had already been destroyed mid-flight.

Despair began to spread.

Its defense was already invincible—even Hong could not damage its scales. Now it possessed overwhelming long-range firepower. Many conventional strategies were rendered meaningless in an instant.

Some of the older Councilors, veterans of the Great Nirvana Era, unconsciously recalled memories they had long buried.

Cities falling. Families torn apart. Order collapsing. Hunger, chaos, Monsters rampaging freely.

It had taken decades of blood and effort to rebuild Humanity into its current base-city structure.

No one wanted to experience that nightmare again.

At that moment—

A calm, steady voice echoed through the hall.

"Leave the Starry Sky Behemoth to me."

All eyes turned.

Bai Yue stood up.

In his golden Councilor robe, his youthful face contrasted sharply with the despair filling the room. Those unfamiliar with him instinctively frowned, disappointment flashing across their expressions. Those who knew him, however, grew thoughtful.

Thunder God looked at him directly. "Are you confident?"

Bai Yue nodded once.

"I'll head there immediately. Everyone—wait for my news."

With that, he gave Thunder God a slight nod, glanced across the hall, and vanished from his seat.

After devouring yet another Human war base, the Starry Sky Behemoth continued its advance, leading a vast sea Monster army toward the next base city.

Martial law had already been declared.

Fighter jets roared into the sky. Evacuation alarms blared without pause. But a city housing hundreds of millions of people could not possibly be emptied in such a short time.

Inside the forward command center, General Colette stared at the massive screen, his face rigid.

"Report," he said.

"The Starry Sky Behemoth is within one hundred kilometers," a communications officer replied. "Trajectory confirmed—directly toward the base city."

Colette had lived through the Great Nirvana Era. Yet even now, his heart felt unbearably heavy.

He had been appointed as the forward commander, responsible for all decisions once the attack began. He knew better than anyone—resistance was futile.

Still, he could not allow despair to show.

"How is evacuation progressing?" he asked.

Mayor Harry hesitated before answering. "Only those near underground shelters have been evacuated. Time is too short… many won't make it."

"Do your best," Colette said flatly.

A communications officer suddenly turned. "Commander, incoming call from the Commander-in-Chief."

"Connect."

The projection activated.

"Colette," the Commander-in-Chief said, "Councilor Bai Yao is en route. He will handle the Starry Sky Behemoth. Coordinate fully and provide any support required."

"Yes, sir," Colette replied, finally letting out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding.

"Councilor Bai Yao's location?" the Commander-in-Chief asked.

"Thirty seconds from contact," a staff officer replied immediately. A golden marker appeared on the tactical map, racing toward the massive red symbol of the Behemoth.

At this moment, the attention of the entire world converged here.

Most people only knew Bai Yue as a Councilor—someone beyond God of War. How strong was he, really? Only a handful—Hong, Thunder God, Luo Feng—had any real understanding. Even Babata could not fully gauge him.

To many, Bai Yue looked like someone heading to his death.

In truth, Bai Yue had briefly considered delaying, forcing Earth to face the pressure more directly. But after weighing the overwhelming gap in strength, he abandoned the thought.

This was not a trial.

It was extermination.

So he chose to end it—quickly.

At the same time, the Starry Sky Behemoth seemed to sense his approach. Its advance slowed. Brutal, blood-red light flickered in its eyes.

Under the gaze of countless satellites and trembling onlookers—

Bai Yue's intelligent fighter jet and the Starry Sky Behemoth met in the sky.
