Chapter 8 - Chi-Chi, the Dragon-Slaying Girl

After resting for a day, the two of them set off again.

A few days later, the air grew hotter and hotter.

Bulma wiped the sweat from her forehead while staring at the map.

"This is weird… isn't this supposed to be Coolview Mountain? Why is it getting hotter and hotter?"

Goku explained, "It turned into Fire Mountain a long time ago. Your map is outdated."

Bulma blinked. "Fire Mountain?"

"Yeah. The whole mountain is on fire now, so they changed the name."

"Oh… that makes sense."

She glanced at the radar and muttered, "No wonder it's so hot.

I just hope the Dragon Ball isn't inside that burning mountain…"

Goku: "…"

Spot on.

Just then, desperate cries rang out ahead, and the ground trembled faintly.

"Help! Somebody help!"

Goku and Bulma both looked toward the sound.

A little girl was running for her life, a Tyrannosaurus chasing her from behind.

That girl was none other than Chi-Chi.

"Goku, hurry, save her!" Bulma shouted.

But before Goku could move, Chi-Chi screamed back,

"Don't come any closer! Get away!"

As she spoke, she touched her helmet and launched the blade mounted on it.

The blade shot out at incredible speed, then flew back and locked itself onto her helmet again.

In that instant, the Tyrannosaurus's head was severed.

Its bloody skull dropped right in front of Chi-Chi.

She screamed even louder.

"Waaah! Daddy, I'm scared!"

In her panic, she hit a button on her helmet.

A beam of light fired out, instantly vaporizing the dinosaur's corpse.

Bulma stood there in shock.

"She looks terrified… but she just killed a Tyrannosaurus. That's unbelievable."

Goku nodded in agreement.

Then the system chimed.

[In your previous life, Chi-Chi dreamed of falling in love with you, marrying you, and having children.

Her love for you was as fierce as fire, unwavering and sincere.

But because of your cluelessness, you never gave her any response.

In the end, she lost her cuteness, her innocence, and her romantic heart.

Your life has restarted.

This time, let her feel your care.

Mission: Help Chi-Chi extinguish the flames of Fire Mountain.

Reward: Current battle power ×2.]

Goku stared at the mission, stunned.

He was going to put out the fire anyway—this was basically free rewards.

But something felt strange.

The system was fixing his regret with Bulma…

and now it was also giving him a mission to make up for Chi-Chi.

Didn't those two conflict with each other?

Could he really have both Chi-Chi and Bulma?

Goku muttered to himself, "Kids make choices… but adults take everything, right?

So that's how you want to play it, system?

Well, I can already use Kamehameha—maybe I don't even need to go to Master Roshi anymore."

While he was lost in thought, Chi-Chi ran toward them, crying.

Seeing them blocking her path, she gasped, "Y-You two… who are you?"

As she spoke, her hand moved back toward the blade.

That thing had just sliced a Tyrannosaurus in half—it was dangerous.

Bulma stiffened and hid behind Goku.

"Goku, stop her! Don't let her attack!"

But Goku didn't move. He just waved at Chi-Chi.

"Hi, Chi-Chi."

Hearing him say her name, Chi-Chi froze.

Her big, clear eyes blinked in surprise.

"Huh? You know my name? Do you know me?"

Goku nodded. "I've never met you, but I guessed.

You're the Ox-King's daughter, Chi-Chi, right?"

Chi-Chi's eyes lit up.

"Wow, you don't look like you're from around here. How do you know my dad?"

"My grandpa is Son Gohan. He and your father are martial brothers.

He told me the Ox-King has a beautiful daughter.

This is Fire Mountain, so I figured I wasn't wrong."

Hearing him get everything right, Chi-Chi nodded eagerly.

"Yes! That's right! I'm the Ox-King's daughter, Chi-Chi!"

As she spoke, she lowered her hand from the blade, her guard finally dropping.

Bulma let out a sigh of relief.

Then she looked at Goku in surprise.

"Your grandpa is actually martial brothers with the Ox-King? What a coincidence!"

"Yeah," Goku said. "Guess it's fate."

"I see," Bulma said, then turned to Chi-Chi.

"Chi-Chi, you seem totally lost. Where are you trying to go?"

Chi-Chi looked up at her.

"Dad told me to go borrow the Fan from Master Roshi.

He said it can blow out the fire on Fire Mountain."

"The Fan?"

Chi-Chi's eyes sparkled.

"Dad said it's a treasure.

One wave makes wind, two waves gather clouds, and three waves bring rain.

Then the fire on Fire Mountain will go out and we can go back to our castle."

Bulma was fascinated.

"That's incredible… a treasure that can summon wind and rain."

Chi-Chi nodded. "Yeah. That's what Dad said. I've never actually seen it."

Just then, Bulma remembered something important. She took out two Dragon Balls.

"Chi-Chi, can I ask you something?

Have you ever seen beads like these? They're called Dragon Balls—we're collecting them."

Seeing the Dragon Balls in Bulma's hand, Chi-Chi's face lit up.

"Oh! You have those too? I've seen one just like it.

There's one in my castle. You can have it if you want—

but the castle's on fire right now, so we can't get inside."

Bulma was stunned. "What? A Dragon Ball is really in your castle?"

Chi-Chi nodded. "Yeah. I played with it before.

It has a five-pointed star on it—I remember it clearly."

Bulma immediately turned to Goku.

"Goku, she's so directionless she probably couldn't find Master Roshi even in a lifetime.

Why don't you take her there?"

Goku nodded. "Sure. That's easy.

Actually, Master Roshi is also known as Muten Roshi."

"What?!"

"You mean that perverted old man is Master Roshi?!"

Bulma blinked in disbelief.

Just then, the ground suddenly trembled.

An axe came flying straight at them.

Goku moved like lightning, leaping up and catching it midair.

Bulma gave him a thumbs-up.

"Nice one, Goku! Thank goodness you're here!"
