Storm Kingdom
Storm's End
9 BAC
Selena Caron was a twenty one years old pleasant young woman, nothing like the evil stepmother trope in the books Miko's publishing house released. She was gentle, outspoken, and dutiful, a stark contrast to her older brother, Garrin, with his haughtiness.
Her new stepmother approached her with offers of sewing lessons, which she had agreed to get a measure of her personality, reading the Seven-Pointed Star, which Ei had refused citing her work.
Overall, she was nice, and Ei even considered inviting her to help with the work since women of this continent were expected to run the household finances.
For now, she would need to turn her focus on the Iron Works to be built near the Parchments, and the Power Looms in the Blackhaven of House Dondarrion. More workers and materials have been sent to increase the speed of the road paving.
Coal mine development was going well since her grandfather had been very enthusiastic for the project, and spared no expense.
Garrin, of course, had tried to leverage the upcoming nuptials of the King and his sister Selena to request Iron Works for his territory. As nepotism was rampant in this Kingdom, none would be surprised if she had.
But Nightsong didn't have a coal or an iron mine, nor had they completed the roads from Nightsong to the lands of House Selmy and House Dondarrion, so Ei refused.
Garrin Carron didn't like it, but there wasn't anything he could do.
There was a problem that arose due to Ei's actions in the Lannisport, as a bounty had been put on Carn with the warning that he was a sorcerer.
It took the Lannisters of Lannisport a while to discover the fake identity, but she wasn't exactly discreet, and it was bound to happen eventually.
They had even sent an envoy warning her father of their intention, though the look Argilac had told Ei he wasn't going to listen to them, as no damage had been done, besides Ei taking back her sword.
The continent had been settled into a peaceful state, as the usual rivals were busy with the winter, besides the Storm Kingdom of course.
The short winter and early spring had been attributed to many things, including that it was a blessing to the Kingdom because of Princess Argella.
Reach, after losing the war had to give a good chunk of House Peak's territory as compensation, and with the winter, had no choice but to stand down to tend to their farms.
They had also ceased sale of grain to the Storm Kingdom, citing winter shortages, but the machines, lack of storms, and Ei's instruction meant the farmers of the Storm Kingdom picked up the slack.
Dorne too had settled down for the winter when their attempt to cause trouble at the border had been stopped by the Storm King's swift arrival with his forces.
Harren the Black was busy fighting the Kingdom of the Rock and Vale of Arryn, and the latest rumours about the mysterious archer told that he had been sabotaging their foodstocks, and the Ironborn had been pushed back by the Arryn's and Lannister's because of it.
Trade was also picking up, as even Braavos had come to inquire about the Iron Works, though with how rich the city state was, handing it over would result in Braavos running the Storm Kingdom out of work.
Settling for the second best thing, the merchants had put a large order of steel.
Life was good, for now.

Just as with all good things, the peace and quiet did not last long.
The whole Kingdom was shaken with the news that the Lord of Tarth's young son had caught the Greyscale.
A ship, sailing to the Weeping Town, had stopped to buy supplies, and sell some of their wares in return, and was considered to be the most likely suspect, but chances are, it was a simple but terrible mistake, rather than any premeditated plan to start an outbreak.
Ei wanted to inspect the rare disease, and render assistance if she could, and considered asking her father for permission, but if the knowledge that she went there became known, people would rightfully worry about the disease spreading, so discretion was for the best.
It would take but a second to cut through space and travel to the island of Tarth with the Mussou Isshin, but it would be the furthest thing from discretion.

Tarth
Sapphire Isle was a fitting name for the beautiful island, for the waters surrounding were indeed a deep, beautiful blue.
A spine of mountains, which cast shadows on the hidden valleys, run down the center of the island. High meadows, lakes, and waterfalls dotted Tarth, giving it a fertile environment.
Evenfall Hall, seat of House Tarth, was located on the western coast, facing the Shipbreaker Bay.
Ei landed on one of the towers, she could sense where each and every person on the keep were, and could sneak in with her eyes closed. Finding the six years old son of Lord Ian Tarth wasn't hard, as the entire wing was closed off, with guards at the entrance only allowing passage to healers and the keep's Maester.
A simple illusion to make herself invisible, and she soared over the completely clueless guards, landing without so much as a noise.
Inside the room, Lord Tarth watched his son fight a fever, his expression absolutely miserable, with deep black eyebags, and bloodshot eyes.
"My Lord, I know it is hard, but you need rest as well, you are no good to young Arthur like this." The aging Maester advised, worried for his Lord, in addition to his heir.
"How can I sleep when my son could die?" Ian Tarth said, too tired to be angry, but too fearful to listen.
"He is strong, My Lord, I believe he will make it through, scarred by the sickness or not. But it will not do if you make yourself ill watching him." Maester Lagon did believe the child would recover, even if marred by the Greyscale, but he didn't want to worry about the Lord of Evenfall, especially since his wife was already bedridden from worry.
"Wake me up if anything happens."
"Yes, My Lord."
Lord Ian walked to the door, glancing at his son one last time, before leaving, closing the door behind him gently to not disturb Arthur.
The Maester sat on the chair, checking the temperature of the heir of Evenfall, putting a wet cloth on his forehead to cool him down.
Ei, silent as a ghost, approached the Maester, and put him under an illusion to make the old man sleep, a trick she had learned from Saiguu centuries ago. The Maester yawned, trying to fight it, but eventually leaned back and fell asleep, snoring lightly.
She approached the bedridden figure, examining him. Ei wasn't a healer, but the history of Greyscale painted it as a curse, laid against the Dragonlords of Valyria by Prince Garin the Great of Rhoynar to avenge his people against the slavers.
Curiosity of the deity had brought the Electro Archon here, and laid her hand against the thick, hardened black skin on the child's arm, to see if it was a curse indeed.
The moment she touched the Greyscale, it tried to latch onto her, and dispelled, for it was a curse for the mortals and not meant to come in contact with the divine.
She had felt the magic of the Old Gods in the Weirwood Tree, the scope, power and the principles of it.
This curse worked on the same principles, but with a different source.
Best way to describe it would be the Seven Elements of Teyvat. They all worked under the same principles, but if the Old Gods of Westeros were to be Dendro, the source of this curse would be Hydro, so to compare.
Another thing of note was the strength of it. While Mother Rhoyne might have had a part with it, the curse was too weak to have been cast by a god, unless it was weakened as worship for the chief deity of the Rhoynar diminished.
Nonetheless, she could burn the cursed sickness away, but the child would not survive from the exposure to her divine essence.
Fortunately, the Electro Weirwood trees grown in Storm's End were grown with her own divinity, meaning they could offer a possible cure.
Leaving the room after making sure the Maester would wake up soon, Ei decided to return home to see her father.

Storm's End
The castle was a hive of activity as she headed to the throne room where Argilac should be holding court.
Guards saluted her, before opening the door, and Ei came face to face with chaos.
Dozens of people in the room were talking at the same time, and Ei spied her father discussing something animatedly with several lords.
Ignoring the urge to silence the room, she walked up to the King, who looked more furious each second.
"Father, what has happened?"
"Argella, there you are. When we didn't get any reports from Tommen Whitehead, we sent a messenger. That fucking ship docked on Weeping Town, and now there is a damn Greyscale outbreak going on, and we were informed too late because they didn't know who was infected and who was not, and couldn't risk sending a messenger. Dozens of people are already affected, and the Iron Works is completely stopped as they had no choice but to stop anyone from leaving or entering." Argilac spat out, slamming his hand on the stone hand rest of his throne in fury, before taking a breath and continuing.
"Like that wasn't enough, a raven just arrived, telling that the ship also sold some of its wares to a different ship mid sailing, which docked on the small port House Swann had built, and as the land is a great source of grain and trade picks up quickly, Lord Swan reported that several villages were infected with Greyscale. It is a disaster." As there was no cure for the accursed sickness, the Storm King had no choice but to stop the movement of people, goods, and everything else he could possibly stop to end the outbreak.
Which wouldn't be easy because without the grain trade from Stonehelm, the rest of the Kingdom would begin to dip into their stocks, and if he couldn't fix the situation before the stocks ran out, parts of the Kingdom were going to face a famine.
Ei blinked. She was gone for a couple of hours, and now there was a full outbreak, rather than the single case reported in Tart.
Perhaps this wasn't a mistake after all.
Producing a cure just became vital, rather than a curiosity.
"I will see what I can do." Ei said without elaborating, leaving Argilac to continue his discussion.
—
Crushing the light purple leaves of the Electro Weirwood tree and mixing it with a little bit of oil, Ei had herself a purple looking paste with a diluted, small amount of her divine essence in it, one that could hopefully cure the Greyscale.
Otherwise, she was going to have to do it by hand, which would fuel the rumours about how the Seven had blessed her.
She had nothing against them, that is if they even existed, but even if the people were unaware of the truth, the Electro Archon did not like her powers, earned through millennia of work be attributed to some foreign deity she had never met.
Now, all Ei needed was a test subject.
—
She was getting ready to head back to Tarth, but a commotion in the courtyard stopped her.
"What the fuck do you mean there is a man and a woman with a child sick from Greyscale out in front of the gates?! How did they get here?!" Roland Storm, the master-at-arms of the Storm's End, raged, because if the outbreak made it here as well, then nowhere was safe.
"They claim to come form a village near the border with House Connington in search for a cure, since Storm's End was closer." The guard reported nervously.
"Gods damn it. We need to lock them up before they spread the Greyscale further. I will inform the King, you keep them there."
"Yes Ser"
Well, lucky her.
Ei headed to the gate to see this couple, and the child to see if the salve would work. Blinking through the gate, Ei saw that the couple were begging to the guards for a healer and the heart wrenching sobs pulled at her heart.
"Please, sers, I am begging you." The man pleaded on his knees, tears streaming down his face.
"We told you, there is nothing to be done against the Greyscale" One of the guards shouted back, before his eyes bulged out in shock.
"Princess!?" The guard screamed, terrified. If something happens to her, King Argilac would kill them. Abandoning his post, he and his fellow guards ran down the battlements to open the gate and bring the Princess back.
Said Princess didn't even heed their warnings.
"Let me see the child." She said to the man, who blinked at her with teary eyes, not expecting anyone to actually come out.
"O-of course." The father muttered, and the woman brought the child forward, wrapped in a tattered cloak.
Ei approached, and gently removed the cloak to the side, seeing a girl younger than Arthur Tarth, with laboured breath, and sweat because of her high temperature.
Greyscale had covered the left half of her face, and the child winced every couple seconds in her sleep.
"Please, please help my little Shireen." The woman begged, just as teary as her husband.
Opening the wooden cream box she had put the salve in, Ei took a good amount with her fingers, and slathered it over the infected part, making sure to cover everything.
For a couple of minutes nothing happened, besides the child's breathing becoming steadier, before a chunk of black, stiff skin, covered by the salve, slid down the young girl's face, leaving angry red skin below.
Ripping a piece of the cloak, Ei swiped the infected skin away, leaving more agitated but healthy skin below.
This worked even faster than she had thought.
