Chapter 129 - Chapter 127: Teuchi

"The Sky Ninja Village is actually a very interesting place."

Orochimaru noticed the look in Uchiha Gen's eyes as he looked at the scroll and immediately showed an 'as expected' expression. He walked with his hands behind his back toward a glass container filled with a formalin-like liquid containing a corpse.

"Their application of Chakra and combat is very different from Ninjas in other parts of the Ninja World. They rely heavily on external objects in battle and have created many interesting Ninja Tools."

"While the threat to powerful Jonin-level experts with comprehensive abilities is limited, they can pose a significant threat to ordinary Ninjas."

"They follow a completely different Ninja path, taking a unique approach to research on the human body and Medical Ninjutsu. Although it seems full of flaws to us, it's not without its merits."

Uchiha Gen put away the scroll and looked at Orochimaru.

He would accept this technique.

Seeing this, Orochimaru's smile became even more satisfied as he continued, "The Body Activation Technique is incomplete; it's just a part of an even more interesting technique. Although it has certain flaws as I mentioned before and requires external force, the various clever ideas and functions within it have considerable value. It can be of great help in both combat and research."

Uchiha Gen knew that what Orochimaru was referring to was likely Shinno's Body Revival Technique.

Body Revival is a combination of the Body Activation Technique and the Body Regeneration Technique.

By releasing a large amount of Chakra at once to stimulate cells, one gains powerful self-healing and regeneration abilities, entering a state of reverse aging to regain youth for a short time.

However, the flaw is also obvious: if the flow of Chakra within the body is disrupted, the Body Revival Technique will be broken.

The Sharingan and Byakugan both have the ability to see through Chakra flow, and there are many other related methods. As long as one can disrupt the enemy's Chakra flow by attacking pressure points or trapping the enemy in a Genjutsu to force them to disturb their own Chakra, the Body Revival Technique can be countered.

However, if applied purely to treating injuries, the effect is extremely powerful.

Uchiha Gen knew that a high-level Medical Ninjutsu Tsunade was still conceptualizing was likely based on some of the spoils of war captured from the Sky Ninja Village years ago.

In the original timeline, it was only because Shizune led the senior members of the Medical Corps to perform this Medical Ninjutsu together that they were able to save the heavily injured Neji.

As long as a single breath remained, even with missing limbs or damaged internal organs, this technique could theoretically save you. It was equivalent to an early version of the Creation Rebirth technique.

But that was in theory. In actual practice, it required an enormous amount of Chakra and was very mentally taxing. No single person could sustain it, let alone the need to gather several high-level Medical Ninjas.

In this era, besides Tsunade, the only high-level Medical Ninjas in Konoha were Uchiha Gen and Sarutobi Biwako. They couldn't even assemble enough people to perform the technique, so it could only be shelved as an unrealizable concept.

It wasn't until the Medical Ninja system was truly established later that this technique became useful. Years later, Tsunade used it as a basis to invent the Creation Rebirth technique, which could be performed passively with concentration without needing to set up arrays. Combined with the Yin Seal to perform the Strength of a Hundred Technique, this led to the complete version of Tsunade in the Fourth Great Ninja War.

Over an hour later.

Walking out of Orochimaru's house with the scroll in hand, Uchiha Gen couldn't help but sigh softly.

Even though his strength was growing and his status was rising, he was becoming busier and busier, with almost no time to relax.

Perhaps that was just how Ninjas were during wartime, or perhaps it was the result of ambition, pressure, reality, and a sense of crisis binding him too tightly.

"Yo! My brother who looks like he's lost in thought, would you like a bowl of ramen?"

Suddenly, Uchiha Gen was stopped by a young voice from the side of the road.

In a small shop by the street, a young man wearing a chef's hat was busily boiling water for noodles and called out to him.

Uchiha Gen originally wanted to refuse, planning to just grab something quick at home and start training, but when he saw the shop's name and the rich aroma of food wafting into his nose, he changed his mind and nodded slightly.

"Alright, give me your specialty signature dish."

"Coming right up! Just a moment, please!"

Before long, a large, steaming bowl of hearty ramen was served on the table.

"Ichiraku Signature Tonkotsu Ramen, please enjoy!"

The broth was pure white and rich, with several slices of appetizing chashu and green vegetables covering the noodles, garnished with chopped green onions and Narutomaki. It looked and smelled perfect.

"Did you just open this shop, boss?"

Uchiha Gen asked while taking a spoonful of soup. He raised an eyebrow and spoke to the owner.

The person in front of him was the still-young Teuchi.

It had to be said, his ramen was indeed delicious.

The reason this shop could become so famous in the original timeline, besides the bond Teuchi formed with the protagonist Naruto, was his undeniable skill.

The fact that it could stay open from this period until Naruto was in his thirties—spanning nearly half a century—said everything.

"Haha, that's right. I've been an apprentice all this time. Once I mastered the craft and felt I could support myself with it, I used the savings I'd accumulated over the years to open this shop."

Teuchi said with a laugh, holding a ladle.

"The apprenticeship must have been very hard, right?"

After Uchiha Gen finished speaking, he picked up a bunch of noodles with his chopsticks, blew on them, and slurped them into his mouth.

"What isn't hard? But now I can open my own shop and business is decent. Doesn't that mean all the effort was worth it?"

"Don't you feel any regret that after years of apprenticeship and finally mastering the craft, you're still bound by a shop and making a living?"

"Well—put that way, I suppose so? But I love making ramen, and I love seeing customers enjoy what I make. As long as I'm doing what I want to do and everything is moving in a good direction, then those so-called 'bonds' aren't really restrictions. They're your own ambitions and expectations for yourself, proof that you still have the courage to keep climbing higher."

"It's only when you find that those bonds have disappeared that it might mean you've reached the peak."

"Like me, I'm going to keep this shop running and keep growing it until everyone in the Village has eaten my ramen, and I'll even open a chain across the Land of Fire."

"If you really feel tired, just find a chance to rest. At worst, just slack off for a day!"

Uchiha Gen slurped his noodles while listening to Teuchi's answer, finding that his words made sense.

Why worry so much? He had just been overworked lately.

He should take a good rest this afternoon.

Once the Jonin meeting was over, even if he wanted to slack off, he wouldn't have the chance.
