Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE: A PRANK BY FATE

# **Universal Beast Transformation: My Random Class Is Absurdly Broken**

## **[Prologue: Wrath of the Silver Moon]**

**Game Title:** *Descendants of Asgard: Bloodline Era*

-----

### **Prologue: Fate's Cruel Jest**

In the year 2047, neural interface technology reached its singularity breakthrough.

The world's seven tech giants jointly announced the official launch of *Descendants of Asgard: Bloodline Era*—a full-sensory virtual reality game boasting "99.87% immersion."

In the trailer, giant eagles soared over eternally snow-capped mythical mountains, wolf packs raced across moonlit plains, and foxfire flickered through ancient forests. This wasn't just another fantasy game. The developers proclaimed their core philosophy in bold letters:

**"Here, you will no longer be human."**

**"You will return to the most primal form deep within your bloodline, awaken the bestial nature sealed by civilization, and forge legends anew—in beast form—across the vast world formed from the shattered fragments of Asgard's Nine Realms."**

The game forums exploded overnight.

The hottest pinned thread climbed to ten million replies: **[Class System Revealed: Choose Your Race, Fate Decides the Rest—Your Power is Heaven's Will]**

The comments below were filled with collective groaning:

"Choose your own race? Amazing! I want to be a dragon and burn down castles!"

"Wake up, buddy. The announcement said only mammals and some birds. Dragons are reptiles—you're out of luck."

"So we can pick any race, but class is pure RNG? What if I pick a tiger and roll Bard? Am I supposed to sing lullabies to enemies on the battlefield?"

"That's nothing. I'm planning to pick Succubus Fox, but what if I roll Paladin… using charm skills to make demons repent?"

"The devs are playing with fire…"

-----

Lin Yao closed the forum and donned the latest "Odin's Eye" neural interface helmet.

The countdown hovered at the center of his vision: **00:02:17**.

He took a deep breath. As a game reviewer and veteran player, Lin Yao understood the value of this design perfectly—ultimate freedom combined with ultimate unpredictability would inevitably spawn countless dramatic stories.

And stories meant traffic.

His goal was clear: choose a race with both aesthetics and potential, create a game character capable of producing quality content and attracting fans. As for the class? Leave it to fate.

The countdown hit zero.

Darkness receded like a tide.

Lin Yao "stood" beneath a boundless starry sky, his feet on a mirror-like surface reflecting the Milky Way. A grand symphony mixed with ancient beast roars and wind directly stimulated his nerve endings.

**"Wandering soul, welcome to Asgard's Echo Realm."**

An androgynous voice, seemingly formed from wind and flowing water, resonated in his consciousness.

**"Ragnarök has passed, the World Tree has withered, and the Nine Realms have shattered into billions of floating islands, drifting in temporal chaos."**

**"But life endures. The bloodlines left behind by the gods have awakened, evolved, and fought across these fragments—they call themselves the 'Descended Clans.'"**

**"Wolf-kin, Lion-kin, Eagle-kin, Fox-kin, Bear-kin, Deer-kin, Snake-kin, Whale-kin… Ten million years of evolution have forged unique civilizations and powers."**

Brilliant streams of light appeared in his vision, transforming into lifelike holographic images:

—A lone cliff beneath the moon. A silver-gray giant wolf raised its head in a howl, the crescent mark on its forehead radiating pale light. **[Silvermoon Wolf-kin]**: Endurance, cooperation, lunar resonance. Tags: Solitary, loyal, masters of pack hunting.

—Beside volcanic lava. A crimson-maned male lion wore armor of stone, his roar triggering earthquakes. **[Molten Lion-kin]**: Strength, majesty, flame affinity. Tags: Sovereignty, dominance, children of the sun.

—Above the sea of clouds. A giant eagle with a five-meter wingspan weaved through thunder, golden eyes like lightning. **[Thunderfeather Eagle-kin]**: Agility, vision, storm mastery. Tags: Freedom, sharpness, lords of the sky.

Lin Yao's gaze, however, was firmly captured by an inconspicuous image.

In a moonlit forest bathed in deep blue, several elegant and slender foxes leaped gracefully. Their fur wasn't fiery red, but a rare combination of silver-white and moon-gray, their tails fluffy as clouds with deep blue flame-like tips. Their eyes were intelligent amber, with a small silver moon mark on their foreheads.

**[Silvermoon Fox-kin]**: Nimble, intelligent, illusion talent, lunar affinity. Tags: Mysterious, cunning, guardians of ancient knowledge.

In the image, the silver fox gently swayed its tail, and misty halos and illusions appeared in the air; it softly chanted, and surrounding vines danced in response.

"That's the one." Lin Yao thought to himself. Top-tier aesthetics, mysterious aura, illusion-based talents that sounded highly versatile—whether pursuing control, support, or trickster builds, there was plenty of room. Perfect for streaming and video production.

**"Bloodline selected: Silvermoon Fox-kin."**

**"Detecting genetic resonance… Compatibility 91%, excellent."**

**"Generating dedicated vessel…"**

The mirror-like "ground" rose with soft light, enveloping Lin Yao's consciousness. He could feel his "body" being reconstructed—lighter bones, keener hearing, and… extra fluffy appendages full of nerve endings.

The light faded.

Lin Yao looked down to see a pair of hands covered in silver-gray short fur, with five slender fingers. His nails were crystalline with a slight curve. He reached up to touch the top of his head—a pair of fluffy, independently rotating pointed ears expertly captured subtle sounds in the void.

A heavy yet exceptionally flexible sensation came from behind. He turned his head to see not one, but three fluffy silver-gray tails, their tips burning with quiet deep blue light like embers.

Remarkably, he felt these tails were like extra fingers, precisely controllable by thought.

**"Appearance customization access granted (60 seconds)."**

Lin Yao quickly adjusted the depth ratio of fur colors to make the silver-white more prominent, tuned his eye color to more translucent golden amber, and brightened the blue lights at his tail tips slightly. As for facial features, he retained seventy percent of his original contours but added the fox clan's characteristic elongated eye corners and a hint of mysterious smile.

A handsome, elegant silver moon fox youth with non-human charm appeared in the mirror.

**"Confirmation complete."**

**"Preparing to transfer to the 'Hall of Fate' for final 'Talent Awakening'—class bestowal."**

**"Warning: The awakening process is irreversible, unchangeable, and bound to your bloodline and soul."**

**"Asgard's fragmented world follows ancient laws: Bloodline determines your starting point, fate determines your path, and your will—will determine the path's destination."**

**"Good luck, wanderer."**

The mirror beneath his feet suddenly shattered.

Lin Yao plummeted into a tunnel formed of countless flowing runes and beast-shaped light shadows. Wind howled, light stretched, and finally he crashed hard onto solid ground.

He stumbled two steps before steadying himself—the fox clan's balance was excellent.

This was an ancient and magnificent circular stone hall, its dome so high it was invisible, with only a vast star chart slowly rotating overhead. At the hall's center, nine pillars carved with different clan totems formed a circle, within which stood a massive, intricate wheel seemingly forged from light.

The wheel was divided into countless tiny segments, each containing rapidly flashing icons and text—too fast to read clearly.

Hundreds of players had already gathered here, all in beast-kin form. Wolf-men growled, bear-men beat their chests, eagle-kin flapped wings, and cat-kin curiously licked their paws. Noisy discussions filled the hall.

"Is that the Fate Wheel?"

"All classes are randomized through that? So exciting!"

"I picked Rhino-kin—please give me Heavy Warrior!"

"I'm Cloud Leopard-kin—give me Assassin! Give me Assassin!"

Lin Yao stood quietly among a small group of Silvermoon Fox-kin. The surrounding fox players all appeared elegant and composed, quietly discussing their expectations for Illusionist, Elementalist, or Mind Manipulator.

A fox-woman player with the ID **[Moonlit Shadow Dancer]** chuckled softly: "With our Silvermoon Fox mental power talent, we'll probably roll magic classes. Even with randomization, the system should follow basic logic."

Lin Yao nodded. That was a reasonable assumption. Race talents matching class was one of the fundamental balance principles in game design.

Though deep down, he secretly hoped for a bit of an "accident"—after all, completely predictable stories lacked explosive moments.

**"Sequence number GN-77441, Lin Yao (character name pending), please step forward."**

The grand voice rang out again.

Lin Yao walked toward the light wheel surrounded by nine pillars under many watchful gazes. He could feel his three tails unconsciously tensing slightly.

**"Place your hand at the wheel's center."**

Lin Yao complied. His fox palm pressed against the cold yet warm light wall.

**"Silvermoon Fox-kin bloodline detected… Spirituality above average… Mental resilience excellent…"**

**"Initiating 'Fate Weaving'… Ancient heroes of Asgard, guide his path…"**

On the wheel, all flashing icons and text suddenly blurred, transforming into a chaotic sea of light.

The sea of light spun, accelerating faster and faster, emitting a deep hum.

The hall fell silent. All players held their breath watching.

Several most anticipated options flashed through Lin Yao's mind: **[Illusion Master]**, **[Moon Whisperer]**, **[Spirit Fox Cursecaster]**… even **[Elemental Fox Shaman]** would be fine.

The light sea's rotation reached its peak, then suddenly stopped!

A blazingly brilliant golden pillar of light shot up from the wheel's center, completely engulfing Lin Yao!

The pillar's color made all fox-kin players pause—golden? Shouldn't it be silver or blue representing mental power?

The golden light quickly condensed, forming several massive runes outlined in thunder and flame before Lin Yao. The runes twisted and reorganized into a clear class icon—a pair of crossed savage battle axes against a background of roaring beast shadows.

Simultaneously, the system's cold and loud notification echoed throughout the Hall of Fate, appearing on every player's interface:

**"Announcement: Player 'Lin Yao' (Race: Silvermoon Fox-kin) has awakened class—"**

**"[Berserker Warcry Shaman]!"**

The hall fell dead silent for a full three seconds.

Then, explosive uproar erupted!

"What the hell?! Berserker Warcry Shaman? What kind of unholy combination is that!"

"Isn't Shaman supposed to summon elements and ancestral spirits? Warcry is a barbarian warrior skill, right?!"

"You're missing the point! The point is a Silvermoon Fox! A Silvermoon Fox! Rolling Berserker Warcry! I'm dying of laughter!"

"A fox doing berserker combat? This image is too beautiful—I don't dare imagine! Can he even lift a battle axe?"

"What about the Shaman part? Ancestral spirits possess him and then he scratches people with little paws?"

The fox-kin group collectively turned to stone.

**[Moonlit Shadow Dancer]**'s beautiful fox mouth formed an O-shape, her tail completely rigid.

Lin Yao stood in place, feeling a cold data stream forcefully injected into his consciousness.

His skill bar forcefully expanded in his vision, icons lighting up one by one:

**[Warcry: Shatter Morale]** (Active): Emit an intimidating roar, reducing surrounding enemies' attack power and defense. Cost: Rage. Cooldown: 15 seconds.

**[Warcry: Rally]** (Active): Emit an inspiring roar, increasing surrounding allies' attack speed and critical rate. Cost: Rage. Cooldown: 20 seconds.

**[Savage Strike]** (Active): Next melee attack deals additional physical damage with minor knockback. Cost: Rage. Cooldown: 8 seconds.

**[Shaman's Heart]** (Passive): You can slightly sense the presence of ancestral and nature spirits, but cannot effectively communicate with them. Mental resistance slightly increased.

**[Bloodline Conflict]** (Negative Status): Your Silvermoon Fox-kin bloodline severely conflicts with 'Berserker Warcry' class core. All warcry skill effects reduced by 30%, skill costs increased by 20%. Additionally, you cannot equip heavy armor and most two-handed weapons.

Lin Yao: "…"

He slowly raised his head, looking at his fluffy hands perfectly suited for spell-casting gestures.

Then at the row of simple, brutal, muscle-scented "roars" and "strikes" in his skill bar.

Finally, his gaze fell on the negative status **[Bloodline Conflict]**.

A sense of extreme absurdity mixed with cold analysis surged up.

—Stream effect? This effect was explosively over the top.

—Class potential? A berserker war build with 30% effectiveness nerfed by racial debuff, can't wear heavy armor or wield heavy weapons, and is a half-baked shaman.

—Gameplay experience? A fox that relies on charm, illusion, and agility for survival now has to stand on the frontline opening its mouth wide to "awooo" roar at enemies, then lift a battle axe potentially heavier than itself to hack people?

The public channel was already laughing hysterically.

"Historic moment! The first unfortunate soul with perfectly contradictory class and race is born!"

"Silvermoon Fox berserker? I suggest renaming to 'Whimpering Rage Fox'!"

"This account is ruined—delete and restart, brother. Delete cooldown is only 72 hours."

"Congratulations, you've achieved the game's rarest achievement: [Fate's Cruel Jest]!"

Even the system announcement seemed to carry a subtle mockery, appearing again:

**"Extreme rare condition detected: Bloodline-class compatibility below 10%."**

**"Note: In Asgard's legends, every impossible mismatch might be… the beginning of a new legend?"**

**"Enjoy your game, Lord 'Whimpering Rage Fox'."**

Lin Yao's tails—all three of them—simultaneously bristled.

The deep blue lights at their tips flickered chaotically.

It wasn't just his tails bristling, but also that cold, calculating part of his brain belonging to the game reviewer.

Delete the character? That meant abandoning the golden 72 hours of first-wave exploration, all progress wiped clean. For a content creator, this was fatal.

Keep playing? With this performance-art-worthy class combination, how? Go to the newbie village and "warcry" at slimes, then get a face full of slime mucus?

Several tiger-kin and bear-kin players walked over laughing, slapping (what felt like heavy blows to a fox) his shoulders:

"Brother, awesome! Courage is commendable! If we need a mascot for dungeons, we'll call you!"

"Want big brother to help you level? With those skinny arms and legs, don't get pecked to death by chickens, hahaha!"

Lin Yao took a deep breath. The fox clan's lungs were highly efficient, but this breath made his chest ache.

He pushed away those heavy palms, turned around, and walked toward the light gate at the Hall of Fate's exit without a word.

Behind him, the laughter and discussion hadn't ceased.

"Look at him—definitely going to delete."

"What else? Keep it for New Year's?"

"Shame about that beautiful Silvermoon Fox appearance…"

At the light gate, Lin Yao stopped.

He looked back at the massive Fate Wheel, then at the incongruous icons in his skill bar.

His golden amber fox eyes narrowed slightly.

Delete?

No.

An absurdly extreme starting situation…

Often meant that unpredictable variables—even the system couldn't foresee—were being born.

He raised his hand and quickly typed three characters in the character naming field:

**[Foxmotion]**.

Clicked confirm.

Then stepped through the light gate.

Before the light swallowed him, he seemed to hear that grand voice laugh ever so softly.

**"A new legend… has begun."**

**[Next Chapter Preview]**:

Forced to descend upon the newbie floating island "Emerald Forest" as the "Whimpering Rage Fox," Lin Yao discovers he struggles to even swing a basic wooden stick. Just as a group of arrogant Wild Boar-kin players corner him, in desperation, he unleashes a desperate, shrill fox shriek into the game's built-in streaming microphone—

**[Ding! Extreme emotion detected, producing unknown resonance with Silvermoon Fox-kin talent 'Silvermoon Howl'…]**

**[Warning: Skill data overflow…]**

**[Redefining…]**

A server-wide announcement is about to explode.
